Panel: Multi-Family Investment in Japan 2026 Mingtiandi Residential Forum 2026

2026/03/02 by Nollanee Sriurarawat Leave a Comment

Powered by ongoing urbanisation and a limited supply of new homes, residential rents in Tokyo’s 23 wards grew by an average for 7.1 percent in 2025, according to Savills, helping to drive continued interest in the sector from both global institutions and local investment managers.

To explore the economic and financial factors which continue to make Japan’s residential market a compelling opportunity for investors, this year, Mingtiandi has organised a panel discussion on 24 March which brings together senior executives from some of the industry’s most active participants.

The panel, which is sponsored by Yardi, will be streamed live at 10:00 AM Hong Kong time on Mingtiandi’s MTD TV video platform, and will feature leaders from Alyssa Partners, Gaw Capital Partners, Samurai Capital and Savills to share from their experience in the sector and provide insights on what to expect from Japan’s multi-family market in 2026.

Chedli Boujellabia, managing partner and CEO of Alyssa Partners will be joining the panel after his firm recently teamed up with a unit of Japan’s Mitsui & Co to acquire a residential building in central Tokyo for $80 million, bringing the firm’s residential portfolio to $1.76 billion across 152 properties and more than 7,500 units.

Having led Japanese investments across sectors including office, data centres, retail and logistics, as well as mult-family Gaw Capital head of Japan Isabella Lo will be speaking from her experience with transactions which include teaming up with Alyssa Partners to acquire a 29-building Tokyo apartment portfolio valued at an estimated $259 million.

Samurai Capital president and CEO Ken Aoyama will be sharing his insights in the session as the Tokyo-based independent fund and asset manager expands its HAUN co-living platform and scales up an Japanese multifamily venture with global investors including Manulife Investment Management, Mubadala and Proprium Capital Partners.

From Savills, senior director Emily Fell will be speaking from her experience advising on living sector transactions for more than 15 years across Asia Pacific and Europe.
