Australia’s IFM Investors has named a former Mirvac executive as its new head of real estate to oversee its $14.7 billion portfolio, with hire leading this week’s look at personnel moves from around Asia Pacific’s real estate industry. Also making the list is the departure of the long-time chairman of China’s Gemdale Properties and Shimao Group is down to just two executive directors following a resignation this past week.

He brings more than 28 years of experience across construction, development, capital transactions and funds management in Australia, Asia and Europe, and will oversee IFM’s A$20.8 billion ($14.7 billion) real estate portfolio. Xie joined Shimao in 2010 and was appointed executive director in December 2021. His departure leaves the board with just two executive directors — chairman and president Jason Hui Sai Tan and Zhao Jun — as the group struggles to restructure its debt following a 2021 default.
