Asia’s listed real estate investment trusts come into focus starting next week, as Mingtiandi kicks off its MTD TV Asia REIT Forum with an exclusive interview with the chief executive of Link REIT.

George Hongchoy, who leads the HK$226 billion ($28.8 billion) Hong Kong-listed giant, will explain Link REIT’s plans for growth and diversification after the trust expanded its management team in June and declared revenues of HK$11.6 billion for the 12 months ending 31 March.

The spotlight interview, which is brought to you by Yardi, will be streamed on MTD TV at 10:00 AM Hong Kong time on Tuesday, 19 July, and interested viewers can register above.

Following the spotlight interview, the MTD TV Asia REIT Forum will continue with a panel discussion on Greater China REITs, with speakers from SF REIT, Cushman & Wakefield and Baker McKenzie.

Link REIT on Stage

During 2022, Link REIT, which has 129 assets in Hong Kong, has moved to expand its presence on the global stage, after starting out the year by naming Greg Chubb as its new chief operating officer for international in January.

With the former Charter Hall executive having settled into his new post in April, the manager of Asia’s largest REIT further expanded its management team by adding a trio of senior executives in early June.

Lai Sun Group veteran Ronald Tham joined Link REIT as chief corporate development officer, former Vanke hand Haiqun Zhu came aboard as managing director for mainland China and former Manulife executive Kenny Lam signed on as chief investment officer for strategic investment.

During the first six months of 2022, Link REIT was also active on the acquisition front, signing a deal to pick up a 49.9 percent stake in Oxford Properties’ portfolio of office assets in Sydney and Melbourne for A$596 million (then $428.2 million) during February and agreeing in May to purchase three logistics properties in the Yangtze River Delta for RMB 947 million ($139 million).

Greater China Gets Listed

The MTD TV Asia REIT Forum will continue at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, 26 July with our Greater China REIT panel, which will look at how vehicles listed in Hong Kong and Singapore give investors the opportunities to receive returns from properties in the region, as well as how mainland China REITs are shaking up the sector.

Speaking at the Greater China REIT panel will be Hubert Chak, executive director and chief executive officer of Hong Kong-listed logistics trust, SF REIT. Joining Chak in the one-hour show, will be Andrew Chan, managing director and head of valuation and advisory services for Greater China at Cushman & Wakefield, and Baker McKenzie partner Jeremy Ong, who has advised on the listing of the some of the region’s largest real estate investment trusts.

Following the Greater China REIT panel, MTD TV will return on 6 September with our third annual data centre event.

The five-part Mingtiandi APAC Data Centre Forum 2022 will look at investment opportunities in hyperscale projects and sustainable data centres, as well as examining top markets in the region, including Greater China, Japan and Korea.
