
Stephen Jones of Woods Bagot
Woods Bagot, an international architecture company which designed Hong Kong tycoon Joseph Lau’s iconic mall The One, announced it has appointed Stephen Jones as its new regional executive chair for China. Jones takes over the top position for the company’s mainland China and Hong Kong operations from Vince Pirrello, who has relocated to San Francisco to run Woods Bagot’s North American activities.
Based in Hong Kong, Jones started his new job on the first of January after spending the last 25 years working across Asia, Australia, the Middle East and Europe designing lifestyle, education and commercial projects. Since joining Woods Bagot in 2005, Jones has held the roles of regional managing principal for Asia and director before being promoted to become the company’s China chief.

Woods Bagot currently has over 100 active projects including retail, mixed-use, workplace and healthcare projects in Greater China, according to the firm’s statement to the press. The Australian firm works with CapitaLand, Greenland, Hongkong Land and Vanke, according to its website.
The company’s projects on the mainland include Chongqing Landmark Riverside Park, a retail and office development for Hongkong Land, and Jinyu Vanke Plaza in Beijing, Vanke Group’s first shopping mall. Woods Bagot was involved in the designs of Hong Kong’s InterContinental hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui and Tsim Sha Tsui mall The One.
