M&G Real Estate, the real estate fund management arm of M&G Investments, has hired Jonathan Hsu as its new Head of Research for Asia. Hsu, who has relocated to Singapore for the new role will be reporting to M&G Real Estate’s CEO and Chief Investment Officer for Asia, Chiang Ling Ng.
At M&G, Hsu will be drive the investment management firm’s research on real estate markets in the Asia Pacific region, as well as supporting the investment management team in making strategic and tactical investments across Asia Pacific markets for M&G’s managed property portfolios, according to a statement by the company. Hsu, who formerly served as associate director for Asia Pacific real estate research with Invesco, will also work with M&G’s research team at the company’s London headquarters to help inform decisions regarding global investment strategies.
“We are pleased that a high calibre professional with the experience of Jonathan Hsu has joined us,” said Ng. “Jonathan’s deep expertise in driving property research will help further our investment goal of delivering great value to our clients by unlocking prospective performance of the property markets within the Asia Pacific region and continuing to improve risk-adjusted returns for our core Asia property portfolio.”
Hsu has more than 10 years experience in real estate in the region, having served with CBRE, Barclays and UBS in Hong Kong, in addition to his time at Invesco. At M&G Real Estate Asia, the University of California at San Diego graduate will be joining a team that manages more than $4 billion in assets and and employs 50 people in offices across Singapore, Tokyo and Seoul. M&G’s core Asia portfolio holds 22 assets across five countries, according to the company.
