DTZ/Cushman & Wakefield Unveils New Head of Research for Hong Kong

2016/12/09 by Michael Cole Leave a Comment

Reed Hatcher DTZ/Cushman & Wakefield

Reed Hatcher joins his Hong Kong team in early January

DTZ/Cushman & Wakefield has hired Reed Hatcher to serve as the real estate agency heavweight’s head of research for Hong Kong. The former CBRE executive will be relocating to the city to assume his new duties starting in early January, according to DTZ/Cushman & Wakefield representatives.

Hatcher brings to his new job more than 15 years’ experience in Asia’s real estate industry, primarily in mainland China. Prior to accepting the research role in Hong Kong, Hatcher spent more than 10 years at CBRE in Shanghai, in a progression of senior consulting roles. The new position will also be something of a reunion for Hatcher with the DTZ side of the DTZ/C&W entity, after he spent four years with the former DTZ in Shanghai from 2001 to 2005.

“Reed brings with him a wide range of real estate experience, as well as international and China perspectives,” said James Shepherd, Managing Director, Research, Greater China at DTZ/Cushman & Wakefield. According to sources familiar with the discussions, Shepherd personally recruited Hatcher to join DTZ/Cushman & Wakefield in Hong Kong, as the agency attempts to ramp up its research efforts.

With the Hong Kong market becoming an ever-larger point of focus for mainland companies, DTZ/C&W may be counting on Hatcher’s decade and a half of experience in the People’s Republic to help him to get up to speed quickly on the major players in the SAR.
