Real estate consultancy Cushman & Wakefield today announced the appointment of James Shepherd as its new Head of Research for Greater China.
Based in Shanghai, Mr Shepherd will be responsible for reporting on trends and events in the real estate industry across mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. His hiring comes as the US-based agency invests in building up its services platform in China.
Commenting on this latest addition to Cushman’s regional team, Sigrid Zialcita, the company’s Managing Director of Research for Asia Pacific said, “James has worked on hundreds of client engagements where research and analysis has been critical to client success. His extensive experience will bring additional strength to our research platform in China.”
Latest Major Hire for Cushman in China
As China’s property industry becomes more competitive and the value of market analysis is more widely recognised, the opportunity for brokerage houses has made the market more enticing for global firms, and Cushman has responded by making significant investments in its team over the last six months.
During October the firm successfully hired industry veteran Michael Stacy away from competitor CBRE to run their tenant representation team in Shanghai, and in November announced that Jonathan Davis was leaving Hong Kong developer Sun Hung Kai to become Cushman’s new Managing Director for eastern China.
Randall Hall, Executive Managing Director of Greater China at Cushman & Wakefield said of this most hire, “Research is a vital and integrated part of Cushman & Wakefield’s business. We are delighted to have James joining us, to enhance our top talent and further strengthen our service platform across Greater China.”
Originally hailing from the Scottish highlands, Mr Shepherd has 15 years experience in the Asia Pacific real estate industry, with the last 13 years of that time spent working directly in China covering commercial, industrial, residential, hospitality and infrastructure deals. Prior to joining Cushman & Wakefield, James held director-level positions at Ernst & Young, Colliers International and Knight Frank.
