We’re now more than halfway through September and Asia’s real estate professionals are finding new roles in across Greater China and Southeast Asia. Leading off this week, a star luxury property broker takes on a senior leadership role at a global agency, a US retail investment expert takes his skills to Bangkok, and a northeast China specialist finds a home at a new brokerage. Read on for all the details on who got the job that you always wanted.
Binoche Chan is now Chief Operating Officer for List Sotheby’s International Realty Hong Kong. Chan, a veteran of Asia’s luxury property industry, takes on the senior leadership role with the Hong Kong branch of the global high end real estate firm after serving more than two years as Senior Manager for Residential Development and Investment with Savills Hong Kong Limited. The graduate of the Master’s of Real Estate program at Hong Kong University also has experience with the Eurosport television network and Hong Kong’s Phoenix Satellite Television.
Peter DeGalan has joined Thailand’s Central Pattana group as a Project Director, based in Bangkok. DeGalan came on board with the Thai department store-turned-shopping mall giant this month after more than 30 years with Michigan-based retail real estate group Taubman Centers and its APAC affiliate, Taubman Asia. DeGalan has relocated from Hong Kong to Bangkok for his new role, but is not yet giving out details of his new responsibilities with the developer behind Bangkok’s Central World, Central Embassy and other Thai retail projects.
Jason Cheung has joined Cushman and Wakefield as the property consultancy’s General Manager for Northeast China, based in Shenyang. In his new role, Cheung is responsible for the overall operation of C&W’s Shenyang & Dalian offices and for overseeing all of China’s northeast region. Cheung signed up with Cushman and Wakefield after spending nearly three years in a parallel role with Colliers International in Shenyang, and the veteran real estate advisor also has previous experience with Savills and CBRE.
Jasmine Ma has been promoted to the rank of Local Director with JLL in Chongqing, where she serves as the global property consultancy’s Head of Strategic Consulting. Ma takes her step up with JLL in the western China mega-city after serving more than two and a half years as an Associate Director. The Sichuan University graduate first joined JLL as a consultant in 2008, directly after completing her Master’s degree.
Gary Lau has been promoted to Head of Channel and Distribution for Asia Pacific Digital Marketing with JLL, based in Singapore, according to an update on his LinkedIn profile. In his new role with the Fortune 500 property services firm, Lau will manage teams supporting marketing campaign execution through target segmentation, data analytics, list management, response management, and lead management. The new role comes after Lau spent nearly two years as Senior Manager for B2B Lead Generation and Marketing Automation for Asia Pacific with JLL.
Darby Ma has been promoted to Assistant Brand and Public Relations Manager at Anantara Vacation Club, based in Bangkok. The graduate of the Communications University of China takes on his new role with the Bangkok-based hotel chain and resort club after spending more than two years with the hotel division of Bill Heinecke’s Minor Group – first as a Marketing Communications Executive, and later as a Brand and PR Senior Officer.
