Asia Real Estate People in the News 2021-02-01

As we head into February, major developers, fund managers and service providers continue to add to their teams around Asia Pacific. This week seeks Guangzhou-based China Aoyuan Group bring its chief financial officer onto its board, while Shanghai’s Shui On Land adds a pair of independent directors, and co-living provider Hmlet upgrades its team in Hong Kong.

Chen ZhibinMainland developer China Aoyuan Group has appointed Chen Zhi Bin as an executive director on its board of directors, according to an announcement to the Hong Kong stock exchange. Now 39, Chen has been with the Guangzhou-based developer since 2014 and has served as president and chief financial officer of the company since April 2019. Before joining Aoyuan, Chen had been employed with Fantasia Group and Deloitte.

Wu YatingShanghai-based developer Shui On Land has added retail executive Wu Ya Ting to its board as an independent, non-executive director, according to an announcement to the Hong Kong stock exchange. In her day job, Wu serves as chief executive of Fengmao Trade (Shanghai) Co Ltd a joint venture between the Richemont Net-a-Porter Group and Alibaba. Wu was the second independent non-executive director to join the developer of Shanghai’s Xintiandi in January, after Shui On had added Honeywell executive Shane Shahrooz Tedjarati just days earlier.

Dominik WiesentCo-living startup Hmlet has promoted Dominik Wiesent to managing director with its Hong Kong office, according to a LinkedIn update. The graduate of the University of Applied Science of Konstanz, who first joined the Singapore-based firm in 2018, had previously served for more than two years as a director of investment with Hmlet after joining the company through its acquisition of rival We R Urban.

Yao ZhibinYao Zhibin has seen his career begin to heat up with a promotion to the role of investment associate with cold chain specialist Metcold in Beijing. The University of Pittsburgh graduate takes his step up after a year and a half with the division of former Kerry Logistics and Eagle Asset Management executive Ang Keng Lam’s Metropoly Group. Yao also has previous experience with the research team at Colliers International in Beijing.

Joel DoddJoel Dodd has been promoted to project director of property projects with Standard Chartered Bank in Hong Kong. The graduate of the UK’s Nottingham Trent University took on his new role in January after spending just over a year as major projects PMO lead for Greater China and North Asia with the bank. Dodd also has previous experience with project management specialist Turner & Townsend.

viola tangViola Tang has picked up a new set of business cards at Brookfield Properties in Shanghai, where she now serves as executive assistant to the chief executive officer. The graduate of Shanghai’s Jiaotong University and Scotland’s University of Glasgow stepped into her new role after less than one year with shared office provider Distrii in Shanghai, and also has previous experience with Ascendas-Singbridge, before it became part of CapitaLand.
