Traditional costumes are optional on Dragon Boat day
Thursday, June 8th is actually the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar here in Asia, a day known as Duanwu or Dragon Boat festival, and one of the major traditional holidays.
In the south, people celebrate by racing dragon boats, and up here in Shanghai, folks just usually gorge themselves on Jiaxing zongzi dumplings.
At Mingtiandi, we’re currently boatless, and dumplings aren’t part of our diet plan, but we will hold back our newsletter on Thursday so that all of you can enjoy a peaceful day off.
Mainland China is off-work from Thursday through Saturday, but Hong Kong is back to work as usual on Friday, so we will be too.
We hope that no matter where you are, that you enjoy the holiday and happy dragon-boating from Mingtiandi.
