Mingtiandi’s APAC Data Centre Forum 2022 enters its second week with a solo interview with the chairman of Princeton Digital Group as well as panel discussions on the hyperscale and Greater China markets as the region’s top conference on data centre investment continues on MTD TV.

On Tuesday, 13 September, Rangu Salgame, who co-founded Princeton Digital Group in 2017, will join Mingtiandi chief analyst Michael Cole for a spotlight interview at 10:00 AM Hong Kong time which will explore the future of Asia’s hyperscale sector, as well as taking a closer look at PDG’s plans for the $505 million in new capital it raised earlier this year.

The event series, which is sponsored by Yardi, will continue on Wednesday, the 14th with a panel discussion on investing in Asia’s hyperscale market, and on Thursday, the 15th, MTD TV will return with a panel on opportunities in Greater China’s data centre environment.

The three sessions in the coming days follow Mingtiandi’s interviews last week with JLL, YCO Cloud Centres and Singapore online investment platform SDAX, which attracted more than 600 viewers in total.

Hyperscalers and Greater China

The panel discussion on Asia’s hyperscale market, which also starts at 10:00 AM Hong Kong time, brings together Paul Dwyer, who recently joined Logos as head of data centres, with Edwin Wong, a partner with Baker McKenzie who has advised fund managers on a number of data centre investments and Vivek Dahiya, a managing director with Cushman & Wakefield who serves as the firm’s India lead for data centres and new initiatives.

The panelists will be sharing from their experiences working with the Internet’s biggest data centre users, including e-commerce platforms, content providers and cloud platforms, to fulfill their server hosting requirements.

The Greater China panel, which will commence at 10:00 AM Hong Kong time on Thursday, will include Joelin Ma, a director for non-listed real estate for Asia at Dutch pension fund manager APG Asset Management, Zhang Hong, head of the private equity practice for law firm Baker McKenzie Fenxun in Shanghai and Johnny Shao, a managing director for investments with Gaw Capital Partners.

Japan, Korea, Sustainability and a Trip to Singapore

Following this week’s sessions, Mingtiandi’s APAC Data Centre Forum 2022 will continue on Tuesday, 20 September with a panel dedicated to the Japan and Korea markets as well as a session on innovation in data centre sustainability.

The Japan-Korea event will feature ESR’s chief executive for data centres, Diamid Massey; Jing Zhou, a senior director with the alternatives and strategic transactions division at Nuveen; Bob Tan, an executive director with the data centre practice group at JLL’s capital markets division; and Sam Lee, a managing director for market and commercial development at EQT-backed EdgeConnex.

The final session in the data centre forum will include Joe Gooi, CEO of SC Capital Partners-backed SC Zeus Data Centers; Josephine Yip, senior director for investments and asset management for Asia Pacific at Ivanhoe Cambridge; Tan Bee Lay, chief sustainability officer at online investment platform SDAX and Alton Wong, an executive director who heads the valuation and advisory division of Cushman & Wakefield Greater China and who serves as the firm’s co-head of sustainability services for the region.

Following the data centre forum, MTD TV will hit the road for the first time ever for our Singapore Focus Forum on 18 October.

That on-site event in Singapore features more than 20 speakers from industry heavyweights including Warburg Pincus, Oxford Properties, Allianz Real Estate, Blackstone, BlackRock and Hines.
