2021 came to a close with seven major fund managers announcing four separate Asia multi-family initiatives during December, and Mingtiandi will be following up by focusing on rental residential strategies for our first MTD TV forum in March, as we prepare for a new year of online discussions.
After attracting more than 14,000 views of our 2021 MTD TV forums, Mingtiandi has scheduled six new event series for this year, covering logistics, Australian opportunities, REITs, data centres and office strategies, in addition to our set of residential shows.
For the residential forum, we have set up panel discussions and spotlight interviews on multi-family strategies in Greater China, Japan, Australia and debt financing for the newly expanded event series, with the first session scheduled for 15 March.
Next up on Mingtiandi’s 2022 calendar of events, which is sponsored by Yardi, will be the third edition of our Asia logistics forum in May, followed by our Asian Capital in Australia forum in June. Full details of the calendar are available at the link above.
Residential Forum Returns
During December, KKR and mainland multi-family manager Funlive started out the rental residential barrage by announcing a Beijing joint venture project at mid-month. Just one week later, Allianz and Ivanhoe Cambridge topped that gambit by unveiling a $2 billion Japanese multi-family strategy, and LaSalle Investment Management and Jingrui Capital finished out the year by closing on a value-add rental residential project in Shanghai’s Hongqiao area.
Also during December, an AEW joint venture acquired the Hotel Sav in Hong Kong for $210 million, with the property slated for conversion to rental residential, according to sources familiar with the transaction.
With Mingtiandi’s 2021 multi-family forum having attracted more than 6,100 views, the year-end surge in rental residential deals shows that the sector has become hotter than ever as we prepare for this year’s program.
Online Leadership
With the Omicron surge continuing to restrict borders and as large business gatherings still prove challenging, Mingtiandi has refined its industry leading online event program to bring Asia’s top decision-makers to our audience of real estate professionals across the region.
In our 2021 multi-family forum we welcomed Allianz, APG, Funlive, Greystar, Nuveen, SC Capital and Weave, as well as many others, and more than 60 percent of the audience for the program were director level executives or above.
To complement the return of our logistics, data centre and office forums, we have added our Asian Capital in Australia series, which will explore the opportunities awaiting Asian investors in Australia’s commercial and industrial markets.
Also new to this year’s calendar is the REIT forum in July and August, which will look at how fund managers are rolling out new listed trusts in mainland China, Hong Kong and Singapore to meet investor demand for publicly traded alternative assets.
Sponsorship opportunities are available for all of this year’s events, and you may contact opportunities@mingtiandi.com for more details.
