The COVID-19 pandemic has been a key accelerator of tech adoption by real estate companies in Asia, according to research by Mingtiandi which is set to be released on Tuesday, 19 January.
In a survey conducted last year, some 60 percent of respondents from Mingtiandi’s audience of real estate professionals in the region said that the coronavirus crisis has led them to increase or enhance tech system adoption, in an industry that has long been seen as resistant to change.
The findings on the impact of the health crisis are detailed in “Tech Adoption in Asian Real Estate: The Pandemic Drives Innovation,” a report being launched at an MTD TV in an online event at 10:00 am Hong Kong time.
Hines, Yardi Discuss Tech in Asian Real Estate
The findings of the report will be presented online by Mingtiandi founder Michael Cole, who authored the report. Viewers will have the opportunity to join in a live question and answer session following the presentation.
Also joining the programme will be Bernie Devine, regional director with real estate systems provider Yardi, which sponsored the survey and the report. Devine will be sharing his views on the report findings from having been involved in the research, as well as from his experience helping companies take their real estate businesses online.
The final segment in the show will be a discussion with Hines managing director for Asia Pacific Claire Cormier-Thielke and the developer’s innovation officer Charlie Kuntz. The pair of Hines executives will be sharing their insights on tech adoption in the developer’s projects, around the region and globally, as well as what they have learned from working with tenants from some of the world’s largest tech companies.
Logistics Tech on the Way
Following Tuesday’s show, Mingtiandi will hold a dedicated session on Wednesday, 27 January focusing on tech adoption in Asia’s logistics real estate sector.
In that programme, we will be welcoming guests from ESR, Taiwan’s Ally Logistics Properties and more as they discuss how warehouse developers are adopting new technologies to meet the needs of e-commerce companies and create more efficient facilities.
In March, the next MTD TV forum will focus on commercial redevelopment and value add strategies in Asia and then in May, we will follow up with our first ever set of events dedicated to multi-family real estate investment in the region.
