The North Asia region accounts for around 70 percent of established data centre capacity in Asia Pacific’s largest markets, according to recent research, however, the region continues to be a major focus for new server facility development with billions of dollars in new projects announced this year.
With this combination of scale and high growth, the Greater China, Japan and South Korea markets are of primary interest to data centre investors and operators, and Mingtiandi has invited a trio of experts representing differing industry perspectives to explore the trends driving the region in an online discussion at 10:00 AM Hong Kong time on Thursday 23 September, as part of our APAC Data Centre Forum 2021.
Participating in the panel, which is sponsored by Yardi, will be Thomas Liu, a partner with UK fund manager Actis; Bill Gao, executive vice president and head of Greater China for BDx Data Centres and Jabez Tan, head of research with independent data centre analysis firm Structure Research.
Spanning Asia’s Largest Data Markets
Liu is returning to Mingtiandi’s Data Centre Forum for a second straight year, as his company moves forward with construction on its first South Korea project, with more developments on the way in that country, as well as in mainland China, where Actis has a joint venture with local data centre developer Chayora.
Ready to compare notes with Liu is BDx’ Bill Gao, who has his company’s first greenfield development project underway in Nanjing, China as it builds out a network which spans mainland China, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Jabez Tan will be adding to the discussion from his firm’s comprehensive reporting on Asian data centre markets, including insights from a recent report on Japan, which shows the growing role of hyperscale data centre providers in Asia’s second-largest economy.
Following the one-hour discussion, will be a question-and-answer session, which will allow viewers to drill down with specific queries of the three industry experts.
Office on the Way
Thursday’s discussion is the final session in Mingtiandi’s APAC Data Centre Forum 2021, with MTD TV set to take a few weeks off before returning with our Office Strategies Forum, which kicks off on 12 October with a spotlight interview session.
The programme will feature weekly sessions on core investment strategies, the future of the office, new economy office assets and Asian investment in Australian offices, and is shaping up to be Mingtiandi’s biggest forum ever. Already on the list of speakers are representatives of Allianz Real Estate, Hines, Baker McKenzie, Tosei Advisors and Colliers International among other industry leaders.
Following the office forum MTD TV will wrap up our 2021 programming in November with our second proptech forum.
