In this week’s edition of Mingtiandi’s People in the News, the CEO of Zhenro Properties has resigned due to “other work commitments”, while Manulife US REIT has appointed a new chief financial officer.
In other people moves around the region, Oyo’s Mumbai-based regional head has stepped up to chief business officer, and Wensheng AMC has poached a managing director from Citic Capital in Shanghai.
There were also new hires and promotions at Hallburton, Shui On Land and Garage Society.
Zhenro Properties Chief Executive Officer Wang Benlong has resigned from his position with the Hong Kong-listed developer, according to a stock exchange announcement. Wang is parting ways with the Shanghai-based builder after five years, with his resignation effective from 20 November 2019. It had been reported as early as mid-October that Wang’s future with the company was in doubt, according to local media. Wang will be replaced by chairman of the board Huang Xianzhi, who will take up his duties until a suitable candidate is appointed.
Robert Wong has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer of the manager of Manulife US REIT after parting ways with ARA Trust Management (Cache) Limited, the manager of Cache Logistics Trust, according to a stock exchange announcement. Wong was the director of finance and operations with ARA Trust Management (Cache) from 2015 until 2019 and director of operations between 2012 and 2015. Prior to that, Wong was a senior vice president with ING Real Estate, and later CBRE Global Investors, from 2007 to 2012.
Harshit Vyas has stepped up to Chief Business Officer at Oyo Hotels in Gurgaon after over two and a half years as regional head based in Mumbai. Prior to that, Vyas had served as head of Oyo Malaysia for one year between 2015 and 2016 following just over a year as assistant vice president in supply and acquisition. Before joining Oyo, he had served in business development role for Pluss Polymers, a Gurgaon-based polymers manufacturer.
William Weihai Dong has been appointed as a Managing Director at Wensheng AMC in Shanghai after parting ways with CITIC Capital. Dong had served as a Managing Director in the real estate arm of conglomerate CITIC Group for three and a half years. Prior to that, the Shanghai International Studies University graduate had served as an investment director at Shanghai Cura Investment in Shanghai between 2014 and 2015, following five years as co-founder and managing director at Shanghai Insight Investment Management Limited.
Ian Chadsey has been hired as Head of Capital Projects for Halliburton in Singapore after more than ten years with JLL. Chadsey had served as a senior director in solutions development for the property consultancy firm for two years following four years as Asia Pacific director for project and development services between 2014 and 2018. Prior to that, Chadsey had served as an associate director for JLL’s Russia and CIS project and development services from 2010 to 2014.
Mudita Dhankar has stepped up to Associate Director at Garage Society in Gurgaon, India, taking a step up after ten months as a senior manager in business development and projects with the flexible office provider. Prior to that, Dhankar had served as a sales manager for the Hong Kong-based firm’s India operation for seven months. Between 2017 and 2018, Dhankar had served as an assistant manager at Colliers International in India. The Sir JJ College of Architecture graduate had previously served in architectural roles following her graduation in 2013.
Xi Wu has been hired by Shui On Land in Shanghai as a Retail Leasing Officer after parting ways with Hopson Development Holdings. Wu had served as an assistant manager for two and a half years with the Hong Kong-listed developer following nine months as a sales and marketing executive with The Ascott Limited. The University of Hong Kong graduate had served as an account executive for Sina Overseas Properties UK, based in Hong Kong, from 2014 to 2016.
Mai Le has been hired by Phu Long Real Estate Corporation as a Senior Market Research Analyst in Ho Chi Minh City after leaving Cushman & Wakefield. Le had served as a senior research analyst at the property services firm from 2017 to 2019 after two years as a researcher. Prior to that, the University of Finance – Marketing (UFM) graduate had undertaken an internship with Savills.
