Taiyo Taimi, Head of Asia, Unlisted Real Estate, Norges Bank Investment Management

Taiyo Taimi is Head of Asia in the unlisted real estate group at Norges Bank Investment Management (“NBIM”) primarily focusing on Japan and is responsible for real estate investment and asset management in the region.

Prior to joining NBIM, Taiyo worked for Aetos Capital (2008-2015) investing in various property types including office, residential, retail and NPL in Japan. Before that Taiyo worked at Morgan Stanley and J.P. Morgan as a real estate investment banker and non-recourse finance lender (2003-2008).

Taiyo holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Waseda University.

Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM) is the asset management unit of the Norwegian central bank (Norges Bank) which manages the Government Pension Fund Global (GPFG). GPFG is one of the world’s largest funds, with assets worth 1.9 trillion Norwegian krone or 1.7 trillion US dollars. NBIM seeks to safeguard the long-term financial interests of Norway’s future generations through active management and active ownership. NBIM currently invests in international equities, fixed income instruments and real estate.

In addition to the headquarters in Oslo, NBIM has offices in London, Paris, New York, Singapore and Tokyo. The global presence brings NBIM closer to the markets the fund is invested in, helping form stronger ties with partners in different parts of the world. NBIM has more than 680 employees worldwide from more than 38 countries.
