A board seat for an Asia real estate research veteran leads Mingtiandi’s collection of personnel news this week as UK developer Grosvenor recognises a fast-rising member of its team. There are also promotions in Hong Kong at consultancy Colliers International and industrial developer Goodman as well as a pair of moves at WeWork in Singapore.
Grosvenor Asia Pacific announced recently that Tim Jowett, the company’s head of Greater China has been appointed to its regional board of directors. After joining the firm in 2016 as head of research, Jowett was promoted the next year to director of investment strategy and analysis before being bumped up to chief representative for Hong Kong in 2019. Last year the one-time Heitman executive became acting head of Greater China before gaining the title on a permanent basis in April of this year, when he was promoted to managing director. The graduate of King’s College London also has previous experience with the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and JP Morgan Asset Management.
Sharon Chen has joined REinvent Ventures in Shanghai as an assistant vice president with the proptech development lab helmed by former WeWork China executive Dominic Penaloza. Chen takes on her new role after nearly three years with Brookfield Properties in the city, where she managed both business development and marketing for the real estate fund manager. The University of California at Los Angeles graduate came to Brookfield through its acquisition of retail management firm CCH Asset, and also has experience with Citi Group in the US.
Sayaka Matsumoto has been promoted to director with the office services team at Colliers International in Hong Kong after serving around one year as a senior associate director with the property consultancy. The graduate of the masters in real estate program at the University of Hong Kong, who specialises in tenant representation, has now been with Colliers in the city since 2015 and has steadily worked her way up the ranks since joining as an assistant manager.
Victoria Gardner has been promoted to Assistant General Counsel for Hong Kong at Goodman after two years as a senior legal consultant for Greater China with the Australian industrial real estate specialist. Prior to joining Goodman in 2019, Gardner spent 16 years with law firm Berwin Leighton Paisner in the UK and Hong Kong, including serving as senior resident partner with the firm in 2015 and 2016.
Derek Hung has rejoined WeWork in Singapore as senior director and head of accounts for Pacific. The infamous co-working pioneer welcome Hung back recently after a seven-month stayover at regional rival The Executive Centre, according to a LinkedIn update. The graduate of Australia’s Macquarie University and the University of Hong Kong had previously spent more than two years at WeWork in Hong Kong and also has previous experience with National Australia Bank and ANZ Bank in the city.
Mint Dang has taken a step up at WeWork in Singapore, where she was promoted this month to pre-sales development project manager, according to a LinkedIn update. Dang received her new rank after two years as a senior associate for project management at the co-working firm. The graduate of the National University of Singapore also has previous experience as a project manager with the UK’s Turner & Townsend.
