A change in financial management at Hong Kong-listed SRE Group kicks off this week’s collection of real estate professionals finding new jobs, as troubles at the company’s cash-strapped parent appear to ripple into the operations of the cross-border investment specialist. JLL also plays a leading role in Mingtiandi’s people round-up as the property consultancy names a new head of retail leasing for Hong Kong and Macau at the same time that it bids farewell to its regional research head. There are also key personnel changes in Singapore and mainland China just a bit further down the page.

zong shihuaSRE Group, a Hong Kong-listed cross-border investment subsidiary of China Minsheng Investment Group has reshuffled its board, announcing on 10 September that Zong Shihua (pictured) has stepped down as its Chief Financial Officer, but will remain on the company’s board as an Executive Director. Zong is being replaced as CFO by Peng Xiongwen. The announcement came four days after SRE Group revealed to the stock exchange that it had received a writ of summons late last month from its largest shareholder, SRE Investment Holding, seeking repayment of RMB 150.4 million. SRE Group’s parent company, China Minsheng Investment Group has struggled financially since its founder Dong Wenbiao stepped down last year after coming under investigation for corruption.

Oliver Tong JLLJLL has announced that Oliver Tong will take over as head of the company’s retail leasing team for Hong Kong and Macau as of 1 January 2020. The new role is an upgrade for the graduate of Australia’s University of New South Wales, who currently serves as Head of Leasing for Macau with the property consultancy. Since joining JLL in 2012 Tong has worked with some of the largest developers and occupiers in the gaming hub including leading the Macau retail team in securing the first virtual reality theme park for the Legend Heroes Park at Melco Crown Entertainment’s Studio City project.

Megan WaltersMegan Walters, Head of Research for Asia Pacific at JLL has handed in her notice, according to an update by PERE last week. Walters, who has been with JLL since 2010, and had served as its top spreadsheet and chart watcher from 2016 when she was promoted from head of research for Asia Pacific at the company’s capital markets division. The Singapore-based executive did not respond to inquiries from Mingtiandi regarding her future plans.
