China real estate sector veteran Sam Crispin is on his way back to the UK this week after a 20-year career in the country’s property industry, and a group of veteran executives gathered in Shanghai to bid farewell to their long term colleague.
Most recently Crispin has been employed as director for real estate advisory services at PwC in Shanghai, where he has held primary responsibility for the company’s property services since March 2010. In his role with PwC, the Leeds University graduate oversaw provision of investment analysis, commercial due diligence and market research for the company’s real estate clients.
At the event in downtown Shanghai, Crispin, who started his career in Shanghai in 1994, was seen off by many friends and colleagues, including representatives of Asia Pacific Properties, BlackRock, Dow Corning, Forbes, JLL, PwC, Savills, Shanghai Forrester Development, The Redwood Group, and even Mingtiandi.
At present, Crispin has no clear plans for his occupation back in the UK, but many industry observers predict that he will remain involved in the China property market, most likely by advising Chinese investors on real estate development opportunities in the UK.
Before joining PwC, Crispin ran his own property consultancy service from 2002 to 2010, specialising in development consultancy and intelligence-led leasing and acquisition brokerage transactions covering retail, office and residential sectors. During that time, he also served as the Chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai from 2006 to 2009.
From 1994 to 1996 Crispin was Chief Representative for real estate consultancy Hillier Parker in Shanghai, and also served as General Manager for Savills in the city from 1996 to 2002.
Mingtiandi wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavours.
