Asia Real Estate People in the News 2020-11-16

Two of the world’s largest investment banks lead Mingtiandi’s roundup of personnel moves this week, with JP Morgan pinching a long-term Goldman Sachs executive to lead its real estate coverage in the region.

Also of note, a Beijing developer has named a new director to its board, and there are more cases of familiar faces showing up in new places in Tokyo, Hangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing.

Rita Y Chan - JP MorganRita Chan has joined JP Morgan in Hong Kong as the US institution’s head of real estate investment banking for Asia, excluding Japan, according to an update to her LinkedIn profile. Chan began work at JP Morgan this month after more than fifteen years with Goldman Sachs, including working as the bank’s co-head of real estate for Asia, excluding Japan, since 2012. According to a report in Reuters, The University of Chicago graduate is now reporting to JP Morgan’s co-heads of investment banking coverage for Asia Pacific, Murli Maiya and Paul Uren.

Li Xiaobin - Beijing Capital LandLi Xiaobin has left his position as an executive director of Beijing Capital Land, according to an announcement to the Hong Kong stock exchange. Now 47, Li is leaving the developer after three years on its board, with the company saying that its departing director has no disagreements with his former employer. The 17-year company veteran, who also served as Beijing Capital Land’s corporate secretary, is being replaced on the board by Huang Ziquan, who also began serving as the developer’s party secretary last month.

Jonathan Noone - VP Post LintelJohnathan Noone has joined real estate investment manager Post Lintel as a vice president based in Tokyo, Japan, according to an update to his LinkedIn profile. Noone began working with the private equity firm recently after three years as a senior manager with Cushman & Wakefield in Seoul, Korea, where he focused on the office and industrial sectors. The graduate of the Cass Business School in London also has previous experience with JLL in Shanghai.

Grace Wang - VankeGrace Wang has joined developer China Vanke this month as a commercial investment partner with the mainland builder’s Hangzhou Asian Games project in the Zhejiang provincial capital. Wang takes on her new role at Vanke after more than one year as a deputy general manager with the leasing department at Shanghai Yuyuan Tourist Mart. The graduate of Hong Kong Polytechnic University also held prior roles at China Xintiandi, The Executive Centre and JLL.

Daniel Zhao - JLLDaniel Zhao has taken a step up at JLL in Beijing, where he now serves as a manager with the office leasing team. Zhao’s new name cards were issued after he spent more than three years as an assistant manager with the tenant representation division, after joining the property consultancy from developer Vantone in 2017. The graduate of Beijing’s Renmin University also has served stints with Jing Yantai Culture Communication and the Novotel Sanyuan.

Joanne (Li) Hay - The Executive CentreJoanne Li Hay has been promoted to director of leadership development at The Executive Centre in Hong Kong, according to her LinkedIn page. The new role is the latest in a series of upgrades for Hay at the serviced office provider, after she first joined the Executive Centre in 2012. The graduate of Canada’s University of Alberta had most recently served as associate director with the service leadership team for northern Asia Pacific before starting her new role this month.

Irania Martinez - CBRE SHIrania Martinez is now a senior real estate manager with the industrial and logistics services team at CBRE in Shanghai, after joining the real estate agency last month. Martinez comes to CBRE from industrial engineering specialist GSE, where she had spent more than one year as a commercial manager. The graduate of the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey in Mexico also has previous experience with Sino-European Industrial Park in China.
