Senior moves at Hong Kong’s Gaw Capital and Temasek-backed Tikehau Capital lead Mingtiandi’s roundup of personnel updates from around Asia Pacific as we reach the mid-point of November. Also in this week’s column, UK office technology provider Essensys continues to expand its team in Asia Pacific and ICBC picks up some ex-WeWork talent for its Hong Kong operation.
Yew Hock Tan has joined Gaw Capital Partners in Singapore as a senior director, according to a LinkedIn update. Tan has taken on his new role with the Hong Kong-based private equity firm after just less than three years at regional fund manager SC Capital Partners, where he served as a director. The graduate of Bayes Business School in London also has previous experience with Wing Tai Holdings, Savills Investment Management, SEB Asset Management and GIC Real Estate.
Temasek-backed private equity firm Tikehau Capital announced this past week that it has appointed John Fraser as chairman of its global structured credit strategies division, based in New York. Fraser joins the Paris-based firm from Investcorp, where he had served as managing director and head of credit for the Bahrain-based fund manager. Fraser’s appointment comes after Tikehau launched its first US collateralised loan obligation strategy in September of this year.
Office technology provider Essensys has continued to expand its Asia Pacific team, with former Keppel Group executive Genevieve Wong joining the London-based firm this month as head of marketing for Asia Pacific. Wong’s recruitment follows Essensys’ August hiring of former WeWork executive Eric Schaffer as its APAC chief executive, with Wong having previously spent more than two years as a marketing manager with Keppel Data Centres following nearly five years with Ascendas-Singbridge and later CapitaLand, following the merger of the two Singapore real estate giants.
Former WeWork executive William Kwok has joined ICBC (Asia) in Hong Kong as head of corporate real estate, according to a LinkedIn update. Before taking on his new role with the Hong Kong affiliate of mainland China’s largest bank Kwok spent more than four years with WeWork where he served most recently as senior manager for facilities management where he was responsible for South China and Taiwan.
Chelsea Ma has joined Paladin Investment Management in Shenzhen as a senior investment manager, according to a LinkedIn update. Ma will be responsible for investments in data centres and logistics at the fund management division of mainland developer Country Garden, as well as looking after overseas property investment. Prior to joining Paladin, Ma spent just over one year at WorldUnion Equity Investment Management in Shanghai as an investment manager.
Colliers International has brought on board a new head of research for India, with Vimal Nadar joining the property consultancy in its Mumbai office. Nadar, who joins as a senior director, previously spent three years with JLL as a director with the research team and also had three years experience at Cushman & Wakefield where he worked first as a regional manager before later being promoted to associate director with the research division.
In addition to its new research head, Colliers is also welcoming this month a new head of occupier consulting and digital initiatives for its office services division, the company said in a press release. Arshish Kavarana ranks as a senior director at Colliers and previously served as India lead for JLL’s occupier consulting group. In a third hire from JLL, Colliers’s Mumbai this month also welcomed Neha Yadav as senior director for office services.
