New directors at a pair of mainland developers lead our roundup of personnel moves from around the region today, with Beijing-based builders Midea Real Estate and Modern Land both making top level changes. There are also updates from China’s DNE Group, Phoenix Property Investors, Colliers and engineering firm Atkins.
Midea Real Estate announced on 25 March that Yao Wei has resigned as an executive director of the company with effect from that same day. Yao had been with Midea Group, and later its Hong Kong-listed real estate unit since 1997. Taking his spot on the developer’s board is Zhang Ziliang, age 40. Zhang is currently the general manager of Midea Real Estate’s Zhejiang-Fujian Business and has been with the group since 2009.
Hong Kong-listed developer Modern Land said on 24 March that Chen Zhiwei has resigned from his position as a non-executive director on its board with effect that same day. Chen, who has represented Modern Land shareholder China Cinda (HK) Asset Management, has been replaced by Tang Lunfei, aged 43, who has been serving as risk and compliance officer with the Hong Kong unit of the mainland asset manager. Tang also serves as an executive director with Silver Grant International Holdings and Zhongchang International Holdings.
Wanyi (Amanda) Wei has joined Warburg Pincus-backed developer DNE Group as an associate director, based in Shanghai, according to a LinkedIn update. Part of the investment management team at the business park and industrial developer formed from the merger of D&J China and New Ease last year, Wei joins DNE from Hines in Shanghai, where she had worked as an analyst in the US firm’s investment and asset management business since 2018.
Alisdair Lee has been promoted to investment manager at Phoenix Property Investors in Hong Kong, where he covers the real estate debt and equity markets for Greater China for the regional private equity firm. Lee’s step up came after less than two years at the firm as an investment associate, and the Hong Kong University of Technology graduate also has experience at Oriental Patron and Haitong International Securities Group.
Colliers announced on 24 March that it has appointed Kanchana Krishnan as managing director of its Chennai office. Krishnan joins the property consultancy from rival JLL and is tasked with building up Colliers transaction service lines in the southern India tech hub, according to the statement. Before joining Colliers this month, Krishnan had served as a senior director with JLL in Chennai from March 2019 through August of last year, and also has previous experience in the city with Knight Frank and the former DTZ (now part of Cushman & Wakefield).
Design, engineering and project management firm Atkins announced on 21 March that it has named Wing Law as chief executive for Asia with its engineering division, effective 19 April. Law is joining the division of Canada’s SNC-Lavalin from rival WSP Global, where he had served as managing director for the consulting firm’s transport and infrastructure division since April of 2020. Law is joining as Atkins’ Asia Pacific CEO Catherine Li departs the firm after eight years in various roles.
