A top-level appointment at a design and build business leads Mingtiandi’s review of regional personnel moves this week as former Colliers International standby Paul Baxter has joined PAG in a bet that Asia Pacific is ready for more worker-friendly places to work. We also have a set of fresh appointments at Singapore-listed REITs and new hires at brokerages in Shanghai and Hong Kong.
Australia-based workplace design firm Unispace announced on 21 October that it has hired former Colliers International executive Paul Baxter as its chief executive for Asia, as the PAG-owned firm plots its expansion in the region. Baxter, who had served as chief operating officer for Asia Pacific at Colliers until recently, will continue to be based in Singapore and is joining just seven months after PAG completed its buyout of Unispace.
The manager of Keppel Pacific Oak US REIT reported on 19 October that Keppel Capital’s Bridget Lee has been appointed to as a non-executive, non-independent director on the board of the SGX-listed trust, effective 20 October. Lee, who currently serves as chief operating officer of Keppel Capital, will be joining on the same day that outgoing Keppel REIT CEO Paul Tham leaves the board of both Keppel REIT and Keppel Pacific Oak US REIT.
The manager of Singapore-listed Sabana REIT said on 21 October that it has appointed Lim Wei Huang as chief financial officer, in a promotion from his former role as senior vice president for finance. Lim takes on his new role on 1 November, the same day that Yap Pui Ling, who currently serves as vice president for asset management, will be moving up to head of real estate with the listed trust.
KKR and TPG-backed real estate listings site PropertyGuru announced on 19 October that Owen Wilson, chief executive of Australia’s REA Group, has joined its board of directors as a non-independent director. Wilson’s appointment follows REA’s acquisition of an 18 percent stake in PropertyGuru though its acquisition of REA’s Malaysia and Thailand entities in a deal that was completed on 3 August.
Keith Tsang has joined CBRE Asia Pacific as executive director for capital advisory, based in Hong Kong, according to a LinkedIn update. Tsang formerly spent more than five years with Macquarie’s investment banking business, where he was part of the infrastructure and energy team in Hong Kong. Earlier the University of Technology Sydney graduate served stints at Colliers and JLL in both Hong Kong and Sydney.
JLL has hired former Arcadis partner Cindy Li as managing director of its project and development services division for China, according to an announcement by the company. In her new Shanghai-based role, Li will oversee design, build and project management activities across China. Li will be supported in her efforts by Sophia Chan, who has joined the project and development services division as head of asset development.
