Korean headhunting leads this week’s survey of personnel moves from across Asia’s real estate world, as the world’s third-largest pension fund searches for a new CIO. Also making the list is a new board director at CK Asset Holdings and a promotion at one of Malaysia’s largest investment funds.
South Korea’s National Pension Service (NPS) is on the hunt for a new chief investment officer after Ahn Hyo-joon left the role with the world’s third-largest pension fund earlier this month, according to local news reports. Park Seong-tae, a managing director with the fund’s investment strategy and responsible investment and governance division is serving as acting CIO, while the executive search continues. Ahn (pictured) had extended his term for an additional year in August of 2021.
CK Asset Holdings announced to the Hong Kong stock exchange on 27 October that it has appointed Donny Lam Siu Hong as an independent, non-executive director on its board with effect from that same day. Now 58, Lam formerly held senior level positions with major investment banks in Hong Kong, including JP Morgan, HSBC, Citibank and UBS. Since 2014 he has served as partner and chairman of DL Family office.
Mohd Auzir Zakri Abd Hamid has been promoted to chief real estate officer with Lembaga Tabung Haji in Kuala Lumpur, according to a LinkedIn update. Mohd took his step up at the fund for Malaysian hajj pilgrims less than a year after joining the organisation from Employees Provident Fund of Malaysia as general manager of the real estate department. Before spending 12 years at EP of Malaysia, Mohd also served stints with PWC and BDO Malaysia.
Bill Jones has joined JLL in Singapore as leader of work dynamics for the company’s Procter & Gamble account across the region within the firm’s project and development services division, according to a LinkedIn update. Based in Singapore, Jones signed up with JLL after just less than two years with Turner & Townsend in the city, and also has previous experience with Standard Chartered Bank, Rio Tinto and the RICS.
JLL announced last week that it has appointed Jonathan Ogg as head of its capital markets team for New Zealand. Based in Auckland, Ogg picked up his new cards at JLL after around 23 years with CBRE, where he served most recently as a senior director with their capital markets team. JLL expects Ogg to help the team build up a pipeline of transactions, with a particular focus on attracting more offshore opportunities to the New Zealand market.
Design firm Benoy has hired Kali Chan as design director for interiors, according to a company announcement. Chan took on her new role in Hong Kong this month after nearly six years with JATO Design International Ltd in the city, having previously served with Benoy from 2007 through 2016. The graduate of the UK’s Middlesex University also has previous experience with Alex Choi Design and Partners, and M Moser.
Ian Chadsey has left Singapore to take on a new role as Americas project management lead for the financial and professional services industries with CBRE’s global workplace solutions team in New York. Chadsey took on his new challenge this month after less than two years with CBRE in Singapore, where he had served as APAC sales and solutions lead with the company’s project management team. He also has previous experience with Halliburton and JLL in Singapore.
Jabfrey Ip joined Chinachem Group in Hong Kong this month as a senior manager with the real estate investment team, according to a LinkedIn update. Ip stepped into his new role after more than four years with rival privately held developer K&K Property, where he had served as a senior investment and sales associate. The University of Hong Kong graduate also has previous experience with Nan Fung Group, Dudley Surveyors and Savills.
