New leadership at Australia’s Cromwell Property Group leads our collection of regional personnel moves this week as the Sydney-based fund manager continues to set a new direction after Singapore’s ARA Asset Management and Straits Trading helped form a new board at the company earlier this year.

Also making the list this week are human resources updates at APG, Hines, Google, Ping An and Alibaba.

Jonathan CallaghanAustralia’s Cromwell Property Group has named former Investa Property Group leader Jonathan Callaghan as its new chief executive, according to an announcement to the Australian Stock Exchange. The Aussie fund manager, which counts Singapore’s ARA Asset Management and Straits Trading among its largest shareholders, had selected ARA ally Gary Weiss as its new chairman in March of this year, following a protracted struggle for management control with now retired founder Paul Weightman, who left the company at the end of last year. Callaghan had been with Investa since 2006, including serving as CEO from 2016 until he stepped down in April. He will take on his new role in Sydney on 5 October.

The former Bank of America Merrill Lynch executive has now been with APG since 2014, and serves on the board of some of Asia Pacific’s largest real estate enterprises, including Australian student accommodation giant Scape, India’s Virtuous Retail and Malaysian mall developer Suria KLCC.

Li-Wen HoLi-Wen Ho has joined Hines as director with the US developer and fund manager in Singapore, according to a LinkedIn update.
