A top level change at Hong Kong developer Chinachem leads Mingtiandi’s roundup of personnel moves this week as the privately held builder announces the departure of its managing director of real estate. Also witnessing director departures this week are Hong Kong-listed developers China Aoyuan and Landing International, and we also have new of shifts in senior leadership at CapitaLand, Savills and more.
Chinachem Group announced last week that Dennis Au has resigned as its managing director of real estate, citing personal reasons. The privately held Hong Kong developer has yet to appoint a successor for Au, who joined the company in 2019 and served through 15 April. Having worked with Wing Tai Properties and its predecessors from 1994 through 2014, Au, 63, is a director of a number of companies, which like Chinachem, are controlled by the estate of Nina Kung Wang, and continues to serve as a non-executive director of Chinachem’s HKEX-listed affiliate ENM Holdings.
China Aoyuan Group said in a statement last week that Jacky Chan Ka Yeung has left his role as executive director with the company from 15 April, but will continue to serve as a senior advisor. Now 43, Chan had joined Aoyuan in 2019 from competitor Agile Group and was mainly responsible for capital markets and corporate finance. Chan’s departure came at the end of his employment contract. Hong Kong-listed Aoyuan defaulted on $1.1 billion in offshore debt in January and failed to submit its audited financial report to the exchange by the 31 March deadline.
Gerald Yong has taken on the role of chief executive officer for special projects at CapitaLand Group in Singapore, according to a LinkedIn update. With the change in role, the 17-year CapitaLand Group veteran will no longer serve as CEO for the group’s international investment business – a function which he had fulfilled since 2018. The 1995 graduate of the National University of Singapore continues to serve as a board member of the Singapore Environment Council.
Casino developer and operator Landing International Development announced earlier this month that Yeung Lo has resigned as executive director and authorised representative of the Hong Kong-listed company. Now 52, Yeung had joined the troubled gaming developer in January 2020 and has over 22 years ins sales and operations experience in the gaming industry, primarily in Macau. Landing executive director Huang Wei has taken over Yeung’s duties as authorised representative.
CBRE announced on 11 April that it has appointed Ananth Ramchandran as head of advisory and strategic transactions with its hotels and hospitality business for Asia, based in Singapore. Formerly vice president for capital investments and transactions and global head of branded residential with IHG Hotels and Resorts, Ramchandran is tasked with advising owners and operators in the branded residential segment, as well as advising on hotel and hospitality transactions.
Savills has appointed Sally Tan as managing director of industrial and commercial leasing services in its Singapore office, according to an announcement last week. Formerly senior vice president and head of workspace management at CapitaLand, Tan has more than 25 years of experience in Asia’s real estate investment industry. In her new role, Tan is expected to lead the development of Savills’ industrial platform in the city, while reinforcing the commercial leasing team through her long experience in the business park sector.
KKR-backed real estate information provider PropertyGuru Group announced recently that it has appointed Shyn Yee Ho-Strangas as managing director for its data and software solutions business. Having served most recently as director of global product management at Expedia Group, Ho-Strangas is responsible for leading the New York Stock Exchange-listed firm’s provision of data and software services to enterprise customers in the real estate industry.
