Asia Real Estate People in the News 2020-10-12

Fund managers and financiers lead this week’s roundup of employment news here on Mingtiandi with one of Korea’s largest pension investors extending the job of its chief investment officer for an additional year. With that news cheering up private equity firms around the region, Singapore’s CDL has beefed up its board by adding a long-time insurance industry executive as an independent director and JLL has brought on board a top broker in the Philippines.

Korea’s NPS Extends Term of CIO Ahn Hyo-joonKorea’s National Pension Service has extended the term of its chief investment officer, Ahn Hyo-joon, according to an announcement by the government fund manager earlier this month. Ahn will continue to lead the investment decisions at the NPS, which has in recent years become one of the region’s largest real estate investors, until October of 2021. The move is seen as an indication that the NPS will continue to expand its cross-border efforts.

colin ong CDLSingapore’s City Developments Ltd has named insurance industry veteran Colin Ong to its board as an independent non-executive director, according to an announcement last week to the SGX. Ong, 52, has been a senior executive director of Great Eastern Financial Advisors since 2011 and has been with the insurance firm since 1992, having joined directly after graduating from the National University of Singapore.

Joey Radovan JLLJLL has appointed former Santos Knight Frank executive Joey Radovan as vice chairman of its Philippine office, according to a recent announcement by the property consultancy. Radovan, had spent three and a half years with Knight Frank’s Manila-based affiliate before joining JLL, where he will be asked to grow the company’s primary business lines and strengthen relationships with key clients. The twenty-year industry veteran also has previous experience with CBRE and Colliers International in the Philippines.

Alexander CHOW YuenongShanghai Zendai Property announced on 6 October that the company’s independent non-executive director, Alexander Chow, had passed away on 5 October at age 70. A member of the developer’s board since 2015, Chow had formerly served as assistant vice president and head of the China group at the First National Bank of Chicago. The University of California at Berkeley graduate also had worked as an advisor to the Bank of Tokyo.

stephen sohn JLLStephen Sohn is now vice president and regional head of workplace design and strategy with JP Morgan Chase in Hong Kong where he serves through his role with JLL in the city. According to his LinkedIn profile, Sohn took on his new workplace position after more than seven years with Samsung where he had served in corporate real estate roles, including working most recently as director and head of intelligent workplace for the Korean conglomerate’s office in New Jersey.

miffy sun JLLMiffy Sun has been promoted in her role serving the Procter & Gamble account with JLL in Singapore, with the six year company veteran having been bumped up to director of transaction management this month, according to an update to her LinkedIn account. The graduate of George Brown College in Toronto also has experience with ABN-AMRO and serviced apartment complex Aquaspace in Shanghai.
