Asia’s largest logistics developer leads this week’s collection of people news from around the region with GLP adding to its financial firepower by bringing aboard a JP Morgan veteran. Also adding some new team members is hospitality operator Onyx, which introduces a new head of China and a leading design and engineering consultancy brings on board a data centre expert in Singapore.
GLP has added another banker to its team with JP Morgan veteran Nicholas Johnson set to join Asia’s largest logistics developer as a managing director, according to a report in PERE News. Johnson who has been with JP Morgan since 2000, had been serving as head of East Asia investment banking and head of real estate for Asia Pacific while based in Hong Kong. In his new role Johnson will focus on new business initiatives, according to the report.
Onyx Hospitality Group has hired former Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investment executive Ethan Cai as its new head of China, according to an announcement by the company last week. Cai, now a senior vice president with the company which operates the Shama serviced apartment chain, will be based in Shanghai. In his new role Cai will be in charge of exploring new businesses and project deals, while overseeing the group’s ongoing expansion and pre-openings, the company said.
Rene Hillig has taken on the role of managing director with built environment consultancy Arcadis in Singapore, according to an update to his LinkedIn profile. Hillig joins Arcadis from Faithful and Gould, where he had served nearly seven years as head of southeast Asia and head of commercial real estate and data centres for Asia Pacific at the project management division of engineering firm Atkins.
Colliers International has hired Siddhart Goel as head of research for India with the industry veteran joining the property consultancy’s Mumbai office this month as a senior director, according to a company announcement. Before joining Colliers Goel had spent more than two years as CEO of aRaIS Consulting Service, a strategic advisory firm in Pune. Until early 2018 Goel had been a senior director with the research team at Cushman & Wakefield in Bangalore.
Hazel Tse has joined HSBC as a senior retail portfolio planning manager based in Shanghai, according to an update to her LinkedIn profile. Having previously spent more than two years with Disney Parks in Shanghai, Tse is now responsible for location planning for HSBC’s retail portfolio in mainland China as part of the bank’s corporate real estate team. The Hong Kong Polytechnic University graduate also has previous experience at VF Corporation and CBRE.
Jennifer Huang is now head of office services for CBRE in Chengdu, as part of the property agency’s advisory and transaction services division, according to a corporate WeChat update. Huang joins CBRE after around 10 years at rival JLL, where she had served most recently as head of markets in the capital of Sichuan province. Huang joined CBRE along with other members of her former team from JLL in the city.
