Asia Real Estate People in the News 2020-11-09

This week Mingtiandi’s collection of people moves from around the region brings you a top-level executive change at a mainland developer, as well as a new managing director at China’s biggest real estate debtor. Also making human resources headlines is fund management giant Blackstone, which has named a new global head of environmental, social and governance (ESG) for its real estate division.

Xi Ronggui Hopson Xi Ronggui has resigned as executive director, chief executive officer and member of the finance and option shares committee at Hopson Development Holdings Ltd. Xi cited a desire to devote more time to personal endeavours. He said there was no disagreement with the board and no matters relating to the resignation requiring the attention of Hopson shareholders or the Hong Kong stock exchange. In his place, Zhang Fan has been appointed as an executive director and a member of both the finance committee and the option shares committee.

Eric Duchon - BlackstoneBlackstone announced that Eric Duchon has joined the firm in the newly created position of global head of real estate ESG in New York. The private equity firm said Duchon will work closely with real estate asset management teams across the globe to build on existing environmental, social and governance efforts and scale them across the firm’s $329 billion global real estate portfolio. Before joining Blackstone, Duchon was global head of sustainability at LaSalle Investment Management, where he was responsible for the firm’s ESG strategy and policy implementation for the private equity, securities, and indirect businesses globally. Duchon holds a BBA from Goizueta Business School at Emory University and a master’s in real estate development from the Schack Institute of Real Estate at New York University.

Feng Jiang - EvergrandeFeng Jiang has been named managing director of Hong Kong-listed Evergrande Group. Prior to this appointment he served as assistant president in Guangzhou, responsible for Evergrande’s commercial real estate and resort complex development projects. Feng’s previous work experience includes postings as design director at Vanke and as an architect at HNTB and Leo A Daly. He holds a master’s degree in architecture from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Columbia University.

Xu Chuanfu - Midea Real EstateOn 3 November, Midea Real Estate Holding Ltd announced the appointment of Xu Chuanfu as executive director and senior vice president. Xu takes over from Lin Dongna, who recently resigned. He was previously appointed as senior vice president of subsidiary Midea Real Estate Group Ltd in June 2019. Before joining Midea Real Estate Group in March 2005, Xu graduated from Party School of the Central Committee of CPC with a professional certificate in economics and management. He later earned an MBA from Peking University.

Chitranjan Kesari - Fosun GroupChitranjan Kesari has joined Fosun Group India realty business Ahuja Hive as chief information officer and IT head. He will be reporting to the head office in Shanghai. China’s Fosun entered the Indian real estate industry through its real estate wing, Fosun Hive, and partnered with Ahuja Constructions in September 2019; the partnership is now known as Ahuja Hive. In his new role, Kesari will be working on resolving current technical issues related with project sites in Indian projects, infrastructure and security issues.

Troye Tang - CapitalandTroy Tang has been promoted to senior executive for China retail fund management at Singapore developer CapitaLand. Prior to the new post, he served as senior analyst for portfolio management at CapitaLand’s Ascendas India Trust. He began his career in 2017 as an investment and asset management executive at Perennial Real Estate Holdings. A graduate of the National University of Singapore, he also holds a master’s degree in real estate from King’s College at the University of Aberdeen.

Fu Jin Quek - HuttonsFu Jin Quek has been appointed associate senior district director at Huttons Real Estate Group in Singapore. His areas of focus are real estate investment advisory, structured finance, investment management, investor relations and fundraising. Before joining Huttons, Fu spent more than three years at Savills Singapore, including in his final role as senior division head. He graduated from Singapore Management University with a bachelor’s degree in finance and business management and later earned a master’s in real estate from the National University of Singapore.

Ratchaphum, Japan ValuersRatchaphum Jongpakdee has been named managing director of Japan Valuers (Thailand) in Bangkok. Japan Valuers, headquartered in Tokyo, is an independent appraiser and real estate consultant. In his role, Ratchaphum will oversee the day-to-day operations and all business activities, including client relationships management and office networks at the firm. His previous work experience includes over two years at Colliers International in Bangkok, concluding as deputy managing director.

Jeffrey Hsia - WeworkJeffery Hsia has been appointed investment director at Team Group in mainland China. He recently left WeWork after more than four years as the shared workspaces provider’s area director in Shanghai. The latest appointment marks his second stint at Team Group, a maker of memory cards, USB drives, solid state drives and other hardware, where he worked from 2008 to 2014 as regional director in San Jose, California. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and management from the University of California at Riverside and an MBA from Peking University.
