A bumper crop of Asia’s real estate professionals are starting new roles. This week’s moves include M&G Real Estate’s former Asia Chief Executive returning to the firm as an interim fund manager, Fosun Property’s Sunyu Capital recruiting a headhunter as its new Executive Director and a Goodman veteran continuing to work her way up the ladder. Scott Girard is back at M&G Real Estate taking on the role of interim fund manager for M&G’s core Asia property strategy. He was formerly the alternative investment shop’s CEO for Asia, but stepped down in January after a long run with the firm. Girard remained at M&G as a senior advisor after relinquishing chief executive duties to Ng Chiang Ling, and has now stepped back in to run the core fund, as the fund’s former manager, Erle Spratt leaves the firm. The fund has $2.4 billion in assets under management, spread across Australia, Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan and Singapore.
Terry Wu has taken over as Executive Director at Sunyu Capital where he will be overseeing RMB 240 billion ($36 million) in assets spread across 33 cities in China for the division of Guo Guangchang’s Fosun Property Holdings. Before joining Sunyu, Wu worked at recruitment firm Talent2, where he was in charge of the property and construction team, servicing both international and local property developers and agencies operating in the China market.
Mark Lampard is now Head of Tenant Representation for Southeast Asia at Cushman & Wakefield. The seasoned real estate professional joins the commercial real estate services firm after a long and distinguished career at Colliers where he was most recently Managing Director for Transaction Management in its Occupier Services division. Lampard held posts with Colliers in Calgary, Brisbane and Singapore during his 20 years with the real estate company. His new role will see him based in Singapore.
Alex Mok has been hired by Henderson Land as a Senior Asset Manager where he will help the Hong Kong development giant look after some of its prized properties. Mok has more than 13 years of consulting experience on strategy & operation, investment and finance in the real estate, healthcare and retail sectors. Before joining Henderson, Wok was most recently working as an Associate Director at CBRE Hong Kong. The HKUST Business School graduate spent three years as a Manager at Deloitte before joining CBRE.
Robert Li has relocated to New York to join Brookfield Property Partners’ Manhattan office as an Associate. His new position will see him working with acquisitions in the US office division. He is an alumnus of renowned MIT and has experience underwriting and executing institutional real estate transactions. His move to New York comes after a five year stint in Shanghai where worked for Grosvenor as an Investment Analyst and also spent time at Shui On Land and Tishman Speyer.
Lesley Ma continues to work her way up the ladder at Goodman. She was recently promoted to Senior Manager after spending three and a half years with the industrial developer as a senior analyst. Prior to joining the Australian industrial developer, she honed her skills at US mall developer Taubman Asia and Hong Kong-based KaiLong Real Estate. Goodman changed its management structure in Asia last month naming Paul McGarry as head of operations in the region.
Ann Wong has been hired at Prudential Hong Kong as a Manager. She joins the financial services group from Cushman & Wakefield where she worked as a Senior Portfolio Manager for three and a half years. During her time there she was responsible for transaction management for international corporate clients across Asia Pacific and focused on reporting and governance. She spent nearly four years at CBRE handling account and transaction management before moving to Cushman & Wakefield.
