Greater China Real Estate People in the News 2015-12-21

2015/12/21 by Michael Cole Leave a Comment

Just in time for the holidays Santa seems to have brought exciting new roles for many of Greater China’s real estate decision-makers. This week one of China’s biggest insurers hires a new head of outbound deals, an industrial deal maker finds a new home and a long-time Londoner heads off to Singapore

jonathan-changJonathan Chang is now Head of Overseas Real Estate Investment with Taikang Asset Management, based in Beijing. Chang joins the branch of one of China’s largest insurers from Everbright Ashmore, where he had served for two and a half years as an Executive Director with the joint venture private equity real estate shop. In his new role, Chang will head up overseas investment activities in the US, UK, Europe and Australia for the state-owned giant. With Taikang, Chang is charged with building a real estate portfolio for an asset manager with RMB 800B (USD 120B) in assets under management.

Levi YeLevi Ye has joined CBRE as Head of Logistics and Business Parks Investment Services based in Shanghai. In his new role, Ye will specialise in advising and assisting clients on transactions involving warehouses and office park facilities in China. The 10-year veteran of China’s industrial real estate market joins CBRE from JLL where he had served as a Director of the firm’s Capital Markets team, together with Alan Li, who also recently joined CBRE in Shanghai.

Eddie Heng has reportedly left his role as head of consulting and advisory services for CBRE in China, after more than three years with the company. Originally joining the firm as an advisor on corporate strategy to former China CEO Chris Brooke, Heng was known for having his team spend weeks preparing powerpoint presentations for visiting executives from the US and Hong Kong. After the strategies depicted in those slides failed to produce a profit, Heng became fast friends with then president Ivan Poon who rewarded his confidante by making him head of consulting. However, with the departure of both Brooke and Poon in recent weeks, Heng, who like Poon came to CBRE without prior experience in a real estate consultancy, apparently found his term at the firm cut short.

anthea-toAnthea To has relocated to Singapore to take on the role of Head of Research and Advisory with Colliers International. To lands in the equatorial city-state from London, where she had spent five years with Knight Frank, most recently as an associate partner. The graduate of The College of Estate Management in the UK also served as an analyst with Cushman & Wakefield in London, as well as having prior experience with JLL.

ingrid-kamphuisIngrid Kamphuis has joined Savills in Shanghai as a Director with the property consultancy’s Savills Residence division. Kamphuis comes to the agency from Onyx Hospitality Group, where she had most recently served as General Manager of the company’s Shama Luxe serviced apartment complex at Xintiandi. The hospitality industry veteran spent more than 10 years with the Shama group, and also has experience with CBRE in Shanghai.

cynthia-maCynthia Ma has climbed on board with the MTR Corporation in Hong Kong as an Assistant Contracts Engineer with the operator of the city’s mass transit network. The University of Hong Kong graduate joins the MTR from construction firm Gammon, where she had spent three and a half years – most recently as a Quantity Surveyor. During her time with Gammon, Ma worked on several MTR projects, including the Tuen Mun – Chek Lap Kok Link Southern Connection Viaduct.

As usual, if you know of other China real estate professionals changing their jobs, getting promoted or just doing something exciting, please feel free to share with the rest of the community here at Mingtiandi.
