This week Greater China’s real estate professionals are not only changing jobs, but shifting across countries and continents in search of the perfect workplace. Plus, a real estate private equity veteran decides the cross-border capital raising business is too tempting to pass up, and decides to start his own shop. Read on for more details.
Richard Zhang has founded Richbridge Capital, a Shanghai-based real estate investment management firm specialising in raising mainland capital for US property projects. The firm will be targetting equity commitments of $10 mil-$30 mil in size, across different real estate sectors. Zhang is setting up Richbridge after eight years with Morgan Stanley Real Estate, where he joined as an analyst in 2007 and was employed most recently as a vice president with the US-based investment giant.
James Taylor is now Head of Research for Indonesia at JLL. The new position in Jakarta comes after Taylor spent the last four years with the property consultancy’s research team, serving most recently as a manager with the APAC headquarters of the department in Hong Kong. Taylor holds an MBA from National Sun Yat-Sen University in Taiwan, and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Manchester in the UK.
Tommy Kang has joined China Construction Investment Ltd as an Investment Manager based in Beijing. In his new role Kang will oversee domestic & outbound real estate investment for the state-owned construction firm’s urbanisation division. Kang joins China Construction Investment after 18 months with PICC Investment Holding, where he worked as a manager in the real estate investment department.
Jemy Yang has been promoted to Senior Design Manager with Shanghai-based developer Shui On Land. Yang, who holds a master’s degree in architecture from Shanghai’s Tongji University, was awarded this most recent promotion after more than three-and-a-half years as a design manager with Shui On. Yang also has experience as a designer manager with China Resources Land, and is currently based in Shanghai.
Matthew Short has packed up his bags and returned to England where he’s now an Associate at Cushman & Wakefield in London. Short’s new role with the recently acquired property services firm comes after he spent more than three years as a broker with C&W based in Shanghai. In his new position, the graduate of the UK’s University of Reading will be working with Cushman’s corporate occupier and investor services division.
