Colliers Appoints Regional Industrial Advisory Head, Japan Occupier Services Boss

Colliers this past week announced the hiring of two executives drafted in from rival agencies to bolster the Canadian property services firm’s Asia Pacific management team.

Lynus Pook has been named senior director for regional industrial advisory in Asia, based in Singapore, while Hideki Maruyama will serve as executive director and head of occupier services in Japan, stationed in Tokyo. Both appointments, announced on Thursday, took effect immediately.

Pook is tasked with identifying business opportunities and developing relationships with industrial owners, occupiers, developers and investors as part of the regional industrial advisory platform. He reports to Michael Bowens, executive director for regional tenant representation in Asia Pacific, who pronounced himself “thrilled” to have Pook on side.

“His experience in commercial and industrial leasing, coupled with his data centre expertise, not only helps strengthen our industrial services capability but will also allow us to drive exceptional results to lead our industry into the future,” Bowens said. “Asia is one of the most attractive markets in the world for data centres at the moment, so having Lynus on board will better allow us to deliver opportunities and solutions to our clients in this rapidly evolving sector.”

Data Centre Expertise

Pook joins Colliers after eight years at Cushman & Wakefield, where his last title was director of data centre and real estate brokerage. In that role, he spearheaded the agency’s data centre service line in Singapore.

Before joining Cushman, Pook spent four years with Credit Suisse in Beijing, where he managed all lease transactions, including acquisitions and relocations, for the bank and its joint venture partner, Founder Securities.

Pook’s earlier work experience includes time as a tenant representative in the commercial leasing department at Savills Singapore and in marketing at Singapore-based developer Far East Organization. He holds a bachelor’s degree in real estate from the University of Queensland.

Client Engagement

In Japan, Maruyama’s key priorities will be the creation of a client engagement strategy to build strong relationships and financial opportunities in the local market, while growing existing partnerships and attracting talent to Colliers.

Maruyama joins Colliers from CBRE, where he accumulated 26 years of real estate experience. In his most recent role as senior director of advisory and transactions for office in Japan, he was responsible for delivering on the tenant representation business’s sales targets and promoting their capabilities to top-tier Japanese firms.

During his long tenure at CBRE, Maruyama also held positions in office leasing, corporate solutions and management.
