This week in Greater China’s world of real estate professionals an investment veteran leaves the family business of one of America’s richest families to head to Singapore, a VP from one of China’s shakiest developers decides that his future is in parking, and a former broker heads to the US to help sell homes to the Chinese. Read on for all the details.
Anson Chan has left Hong Kong-listed developer Agile Property to run an Internet startup in Shenzhen developing parking solutions. While the University of Hong Kong graduate is not yet ready to give out details of his latest pursuit, he can reveal that he is the managing partner of the online parking app. Prior to putting his time into parking, Chan was Group Vice President at Agile, and also previously served as the developer’s CIO. Chan also has previous experience in tech roles with Hutchison Whampoa and Cathay Pacific.
David Edwards has joined Deutsche Asset Management as a director with the division of German financial giant Deutsche Bank. In his new role, Edwards will be responsible for managing the asset management firm’s real estate portfolio while based in the company’s Singapore office. The University of Reading graduate has relocated to the island nation after many years in Hong Kong, where he served most recently as Managing Director with the Rockefeller family’s Rose Rock Group.
Jeffrey Hu has joined US real estate developer Group i as Director of Investments and Financing. Hu will be responsible for investments, business development, project financing and international marketing for the San Francisco firm, capitalising on the experience he gained in his former role as Director and head of investment services with CBRE in Shanghai. Hu will also be in charge of Group i’s office in Shanghai.
Fion Zhang has joined CBRE in Shanghai as an Executive Director with the agency’s office services team in eastern China. Based out of Shanghai, Zhang will have responsibility for the company’s services on behalf of corporate tenants. The graduate of Oxford Brookes University in the UK comes to CBRE from competitor JLL, where she spent more than eight years, most recently as a National Director with that company’s office leasing unit.
Keith Tsang has joined Macquarie Group in Hong Kong as a corporate real estate manager. The graduate of Sydney’s University of Technology joins the Australian financial services firm after spending just over a year with Colliers International in Hong Kong as an assistant manager with their corporate solutions division. Tsang also has experience with JLL and other property consultancy’s in Sydney.
Cherry Yin has joined Yanlord Land as head of office leasing in Tianjin. Yin joins the Singapore-listed mainland developer after spending more than eight years with JLL in Tianjin, most recently as a senior manager with the real estate consultancy’s markets division. In addition to her work with JLL, Yin also has experience with CBRE in Tianjin, where she worked as an assistant to the firm’s managing director.
