Global property consultancy CBRE is bringing in new leadership for its asset management business in the region by appointing Craig Hudleston as Executive Managing Director, Head of Asset Services for Asia Pacific. The company announced last week that Hudleston, who has been serving as Chief Operating Officer of CBRE Japan, will take the new role effective immediately and will relocate to Hong Kong later this year.
In his new job, Hudleston will oversee the agency’s Asset Services business line in 15 markets across the region. The executive will take responsibility for crafting and executing regional strategy and managing client relationships and financial performance.
In 2014, CBRE had brought on board Andrew Nicholson as Executive Managing Director and head of asset services for Asia Pacific. The former Swire Properties executive is still listed on CBRE’s website, but a statement from the agency regarding Hudleston’s new role does not mention Nicholson.
Tokyo Veteran Comes to Hong Kong
Hudleston brings to his new role over 14 years of experience in real estate, development and project and construction management in Australia, Britain, Japan and Korea. The industry veteran previously held senior roles at CBRE in Tokyo after joining the NYSE-listed firm in 2007, serving as Managing Director of Occupier Services from 2013 to 2015 and Managing Director of Asset Services from 2015 to 2016.
“Craig is the natural choice to guide the next phase of growth in our Asia Pacific Asset Services business,” commented Steve Swerdlow, CEO of CBRE Asia Pacific in a statement. “He is an established leader of people and businesses, a proven client-centric partner to clients and one of CBRE’s most recognized talents globally.”
CBRE’s Asset Services division manages commercial property assets to maximize returns on investment and align real estate portfolios with clients’ overall business strategies.
The move is the latest in a series of regional leadership changes for CBRE. Last November, CBRE Hong Kong decided to fold its Institutional Investment Properties Team into its Capital Markets team, putting Stanley Wong in charge of the restructured department as Executive Director.
That reshuffle followed the departure of Richard Kirke as head of CBRE’s Capital Markets team for APAC the previous June.
