Asia Real Estate People in the News 2017-11-27

2017/11/27 by Greg Isaacson Leave a Comment

Sometimes, the biggest HR news in the real estate world involves people staying put, such as the re-election of the chairman of one of the world’s largest construction firms. There have been plenty of job changes too, with a Singaporean developer gaining a new CFO, a high-tech zone acquiring some new investment talent, and an international real estate agency welcoming a leasing pro. Read on for more details about these moves (or non-moves, as the case may be).

Liu Qitao has been re-elected as chairman of the board of state-owned China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), while Chen Fenjian has been re-appointed as vice chairman and president of the company, as part of the announcement of a new board of directors. Fu Junyuan was also re-appointed as chief financial officer. CCCC, the global construction titan owned by China Communications Construction Group Corp, last month acquired Canadian builder Aecon Group for $1.18 billion.

Jenny Wan is joining Hong Kong’s Link REIT as General Manager of Asset Management, moving on from Phoenix Property Investors, where she served as Vice President of Asset Management for nearly three years. Wan has more than 17 years of experience in the real estate sector with a focus on asset management, leasing and valuation, and has worked for a number of developers in Hong Kong managing major shopping malls including New Town Plaza, Elements and Harbour City.

Joanna Gok Yin Yin has been promoted to Chief Financial Officer at Far East Orchard Limited, a unit of Singapore’s largest private developer Far East Organization. In the new role, Gok will be responsible for overall financial matters as well as business ventures and strategic partnerships of the group. Gok has held a series of increasingly senior roles, most recently Head of Corporate Development, since joining the firm in 2012. She previously worked at KPMG Singapore, Newgate Investment Holding, and ERA Realty Network.

Jimmy Hong is now Director – Head of Business Development, Project Leasing at JLL, based in Shanghai. Hong stepped into the new job at the international brokerage after working for nearly four years at Hong Kong’s Hang Lung Properties as Senior Manager in the Group Central Leasing and Management division. The asset management and leasing pro has also served as a Manager of Leasing and Management at Kerry Properties in Shanghai, after stints at JLL and Mori Building China.

Jerry Yang has taken on the role of Assistant General Manager at Shui On Land in Shanghai, after serving as Senior Design Manager at the Hong Kong-listed developer since May 2015. Yang joined Shui On – best known for the Xintiandi complex in Shanghai – as Design Manager in 2011, moving on from state-owned China Resources Land where he held the same title in the firm’s Shanghai and Dalian offices. Yang received a master’s in architecture from Shanghai Tongji University.

siece chooSiece Choo has taken a job with financial consulting heavyweight PriceWaterhouseCoopers as an Advisor, based in Shanghai. The real estate professional formerly worked as Leasing Manager at Beijing-based developer SOHO China, focussing on the company’s office and retail properties in Shanghai. In addition to her experience with the developer run by property power couple Pan Shiyi and Zhang Xin, Choo has also served as a Business Development Manager at co-working provider Fountown. Choo also has experience working at property agencies Savills and Centaline Group.

Susan Jiang has joined Changzhou Hi-tech Group Co in the role of Director of International Investment Center in the city of Changzhou, Jiangsu province. Jiang previously worked for Jintan Economic Development Zone, where she was in charge of promoting foreign investment into the zone in the district of Changzhou. The graduate of Nanjing College for Population Management has also held project management roles at the Investment Promotion Bureau of Changzhou National Hi-tech District, after starting her career at SMG Siemag AG.

Andrew Chen has stepped down as Senior Manager in the Capital Market Department of logistics developer ESR (e-Shang Redwood) for personal reasons. Chen joined the firm’s Shanghai-based precursor e-Shang as a senior finance manager in 2014 and subsequently moved to the Fund Management team to manage Dutch pension giant APG’s $500 million Chinese Logistics JV Platform. The financial specialist was involved in forging ESR’s partnership with US investment manager Invesco , setting up the company’s Qualified Foreign Limited Partners (QFLP) platform, and other efforts.

As usual, if you know of other Asia real estate professionals changing their jobs, getting promoted or just doing something exciting, please feel free to share with the rest of the community here at Mingtiandi.
