In this week’s edition of People in the News, a spate of real estate professionals are settling into new roles at global property agencies, including a top occupier services executive landing at Cushman & Wakefield in Singapore. A Middle Eastern sovereign wealth fund has also added to its team with an Asia Pacific real estate veteran, and there’s even opportunities in the lingerie real estate sector if you know where to look. Ming Lee Chua has taken the reins as Head of Account Management and Service Lines for Global Occupier Services in Asia Pacific at Cushman & Wakefield, based in Singapore. Chua’s responsibilities in her new role will include piloting growth across the firm’s occupier service lines and delivering solutions for MNC clients, according to a statement by the international property consultancy. The MBA holder has over 20 years of experience in the occupier services field, most recently serving as global real estate director at Unilever for five and a half years in Shanghai. Before that, Chua worked at real estate agency JLL in Singapore and other locations in the region for 15 years.
Lachlan Gyde is now Executive Director for Asset Management at Ithra Dubai, the real estate development and asset management arm of the Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD), the country’s sovereign wealth fund. Based in Dubai, Gyde joined the firm in Dubai in July after working at Lendlease as Senior Development Manager in Malaysia for two and a half years. The real estate veteran previously served as Retail Asset Management Lead for SE Asia at EC Harris, and also has experience at Grosvenor, Marina Bay Sands, APREA and other industry players.
Paul Lam is now Chief Executive Officer of Sino Pride Development in Hong Kong. Before taking on the new challenge this month, Lam served as Marketing Director at Space Tactics Assets Management since July 2015, leading business development and marketing activities for South China at the Hong Kong-based property marketing firm. The member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors also worked at JLL in South China for over five years, focussing on asset management and property services. Lam’s more than 25-year industry career also includes stints at Colliers International, Savills, mainland developers R&F Properties and Agile Property, and Hong Kong builder Wheelock.
Christina Lashko has joined Cushman & Wakefield as Senior Director – Head of Enterprise, Occupier Services Group, based in Shanghai. For her new role, Lashko draws on 15 years of experience in providing solutions for corporate users of office and business park space, including investment and build-to-suit requirements. The Peking University graduate formerly served as Senior Director at rival property brokerage Colliers International Shanghai, where she headed up business park services for MNCs and local firms for over a year and a half, capping a career at Colliers that began in 2002.
Lucy Zhen has joined CBRE as International Residential Project – Head of Beijing at the property agency in September. Zhen previously worked at competitor JLL as Manager – International Property Sales for almost a year and a half, where she advised high-net-worth individuals on property investment for their asset allocation and wealth management needs. The University of Toronto graduate also worked at rival agency Colliers International for about three and a half years, where she played a role in sales and marketing for the International Properties division.
Claire Soohye Choi has left Cushman & Wakefield to take the helm as Head of Research for CBRE Korea. In the Seoul-based, Associate Director role, Choie will help to build the property agency’s research team. The Ohio State University graduate will draw on over a decade of experience advising clients in Korea, including over two years at Cushman & Wakefield and nearly six years working on hotel and mixed-use development projects at Daesung Industrial Co.
Mischa Yixia Zhang has joined L Brands in Shanghai, taking the role of Senior Leasing Analyst at the Ohio-based owner of retail brands Victoria’s Secret and Bed, Bath and Beyond. Zhang previously served as Real Estate Coordinator at Gap Inc. since January 2015, building on a property career that included working as a project manager for the Shanghai Caohejing High-Tech Park for two and a half years. Zhang graduated from Shanghai University and recently completed her master’s in real estate from John Hopkins University.
