With less than a week to go before Chinese New Year, at least a few of your friends, co-workers and competitors in the region have already settled into new roles ahead of the fire rooster. This week a real estate investment firm appoints a new senior decision maker in Australia, a finance specialist heads for a family office and still more familiar faces are turning up in new places. Read on for all the details.
Savills Investment Management has appointed Lee Tredwell as Head of Investment for its Australian operation. The new role for Tredwell comes as the real estate investment specialist says it plans to increase its exposure in the Australian real estate market after first opening a Sydney office in May 2016. Tredwell joins the London-based firm from Australia’s Abacus Property Group, where he was Group Executive for Acquisition. The University of Technology Sydney graduate also has previous experience at GE Capital Real Estate and CBRE.
Yong Shen is now Chief Operating Officer at Junson Capital, based in Hong Kong. Junson, which operates as the family office of Longfor Properties co-founder Cai Kui hired Shen following his three year stint as Chief Financial Officer for China at US developer Tishman Speyer. In his new role the graduate of the US’ Earlham College will be responsible for asset liability management, finance, IT and operations for Junson.
Matthew Short has joined DTZ/Cushman & Wakefield’s Global Occupier Services division in Hong Kong. For Short, while the location may be new, the role is likely to be familiar, even as he relocates from the UK for his new duties. Before spending the last 18 months on the Global Occupier Services team for C&W in London, Short had been a Senior Manager with Cushman in Shanghai for more than three years.
Antoine Cortier is now Manager for Commercial Real Estate in China at GVA Asia Pacific Property in Shanghai. In his new role, Cortier is focused on tenant representation for leasing and acquisitions, as well as covering asset disposals, site selection, and general real estate strategic consulting. He takes on his new role after eight months at competitor NAI Global in Shanghai, and Cortier also has previous experience with Tonbridge International Realty in Shanghai.
Truman Qin is now Head of the Investment Promotion Department for Tianjin South Station Business District, in Tianjin, China. Qin takes on his new assignment after just under a year as Deputy Chief of the No 1 Investment Promotion Bureau at Tianjin Xiqing Economic-Technological Development Area in the same city. In his new role, Qin is charged with attracting business to Tianjin South Station Technology Business District, including encouraging commercial real estate development.
