This week’s people in the news has strong ties to CBRE with several of the firm’s former employees moving on to new gigs. CBRE Capital Advisors saw a Senior Director leave for Credit Suisse while the former CEO and Chairman of CBRE China founded a Hong Kong firm alongside Paul Husband. In addition to this, a pair of managers from regional offices in China have also taken on new challenges with one moving to JLL and another heading to Vicus Partners. Be sure to keep reading for all of the news.

Christopher Chiang has joined Credit Suisse’s real estate investment management team and will head the Swiss firm’s real estate investment efforts in Asia Pacific, reporting to Credit Suisse’s head of international real estate acquisition and sales, Daniel Tochtermann. The shift means that Chiang is leaving CBRE’s Singapore office where he had been Senior Director at CBRE Capital Advisors, amidst a broader shake up of the company’s investment advisory business in the region. The veteran investment advisor’s move comes within the same month that his now former boss, Nick Crockett stepped down from his position as Executive Director for CBRE Capital Advisors in Asia Pacific.

Chris BrookeFormer CBRE China chief Chris Brooke has turned up as a partner in a newly formed consulting firm in Hong Kong. Brooke has teamed with Paul Husband of Husband Retail Consulting to form Brooke Husband, a Hong Kong-based firm providing strategic market insight, development consulting and investment advisory services to real estate owners, developers and investors in Asia Pacific. It has been more than a year since Brooke left CBRE where he had been working as head of its consulting division for Asia after earlier stepping down as CEO and chairman of the company’s China operation.

The hospitality vet has spent ten years in the industry also working at IHG and Wyndham in China.

karen-wu-2Karen Wu swapped Beijing for New York and is now working for Vicus Partners as the Office Leasing Tenant Representative at the firm’s China desk.
