This week Asia’s crew of real estate industry professionals features a mainland hospitality veteran taking a C-suite role with Accor, one of Hong Kong’s biggest developers finding new leadership for its asset management division in Shanghai and a familiar broker-face showing up in a new place, just in time for Brexit. Read on for all the details.
Murphy Zhu has joined Accor Hotels in Shanghai, as the French hospitality group’s Chief Commercial Officer for Greater China. Zhu, who has more than 20 years of mainland hotel management experience is rejoining the owner of the Sofitel and Mercure brands after a six-year stint with competitor Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG). At IHG, the graduate of Hong Kong Polytechnic University had served most recently as senior director for development for Greater China.
Jim Fu is now Director of Asset Management with Sun Hung Kai Properties in Shanghai. Fu takes on his new role after serving as Director of Sales & Marketing for the Hong Kong-based developer’s IFC and ICC Residences in the city, where he opened each of the landmark property projects. The University of Manitoba graduate has more than 12 years experience in the industry, including stints with Singapore’s Ascott group and Starwood Hotels & Resorts.
Brendon Frye has joined the International Investment team with CBRE in the UK, where he will advise Asia-based developers and investors on projects in central London. Frye, who will be braving Brexit in his latest international assignment, pulled up stakes in Shanghai late last year after more than five years with Colliers International in the city. The University of Illinois graduate joined Colliers as an intern in 2010, before working his way up to become a senior manager in the company’s investment services division.
Regent Yung has been promoted to Investment Manager at Link REIT in Hong Kong. The Tsinghua University graduate successfully skipped a grade to move up from Senior Investment Analyst with the manager of Asia’s largest real estate investment trust after being involved with Link REIT’s acquisitions of the EC Mall in Beijing last year, as well as its deal for phase one of Corporate Avenue in Shanghai, and the purchase of Mongkok Trade and Industry Department Tower in Hong Kong.
Wei Zhang has been promoted to Associate with KKR’s real estate team in Hong Kong, after serving as an analyst with the US private equity firm for less than one year. Zhang, who graduated from the University of Cambridge in the UK, previously spent more than two years with Merrill Lynch in Hong Kong. KKR recently began ramping up its real estate team in the region, including hiring former Blackstone managing director Rob Yang last month.
Janice Lee has joined Savills in Hong Kong as a Senior Manager with the firm’s office leasing team. Lee, who has more than 12 years of real estate experience in Hong Kong joins the commercial agency from DTZ (now DTZ/Cushman and Wakefield) where she had served for more than two-and-a-half years, most recently as a senior manager with their office leasing team. The University of New South Wales graduate also spent more than nine years with Midland Realty in Hong Kong.
Alexandra Ingram is now part of the capital markets team at JLL in Shanghai, where she joins as a Senior Manager. The University of Melbourne graduate has relocated from Hong Kong to Shanghai with JLL, having served as an Assistant Manager with the consultancy’s Asia Pacific Capital Markets team there. Ingram has spent nearly six years in Asia’s real estate industry, including a stint with JLL in Tokyo, and two years with CapitaLand in Singapore and Ho Chi Minh City.
