You’re not in Kansas anymore, it’s Shaanxi.
As malls proliferate across China, attracting shoppers to new stores is understandably getting mor challenging. So a new gold shop at a mall in Xi’an is using this precious metal to pull in those picky shoppers.
A reporter from China Radio International found that,
A store at a shopping mall in Xi’an, northwest China’s Shaanxi province, is displaying over 50 million yuan worth of gold products along a 10-meter-long stretch of the mall’s walkway, dubbed the “golden avenue,” as part of a promotion for the store’s January 8 grand opening, cnwest.com reports.
Products on display along the golden avenue include gold bars, gold bricks and gold coins. The heaviest item weighs one kilogram and is worth about 250,000 yuan. The total weight of all products along the golden avenue is roughly 200 kilograms.
No details yet on whether this particular yellow brick road promotion brought in profits for the mall, but presumably the insurance company was well paid.
