Today was the first day of the sixteenth week of Rightsite, and this week looks like it’s going to centre on building a list of requirements for the site, inducting some new team members, and getting our newsletters started. (Not to mention that ongoing office search).
Web development
Development of the site this week seems to mostly involve looking into ways different users will use the site and trying to build a list of requirements for the site’s functions so that we can ensure the site meets the needs of all it’s different users. We have already built a list of different types of users, and now we are trying to predict what these users will want to do with the site.
Our other major task for the week is to get ready to create a site map. You know those little links at the bottom of a website that bring you to some structured list of the site’s different sections or pages? Well, we will be putting together one of those structured lists as a guide to our own development of the site, as well as a way to check if we are on track with our planning so far. This will be our first major development milestone, and we are scheduled to reach it next Tueday. Will let you know if we hit our target.
New Team Members
We have been busy interviewing potential interns over the last few weeks and have selected a few lucky winners. Our first addition, Anne, will start on Wednesday, and we will be training her in the arcane art of industrial property. Once that’s through, she will be tasked with getting as much industrial property information as possible into our CRM system. Then, once the site is operational, this information will be imported into the site, and we instantly have content!
Once Anne is up and running, we will bring in another two interns on Wednesday the 23rd to do similar jobs, and then our little team will be up to five people.
Newsletter Leftovers
Designing and launching the IDAA newsletter was our big unaccomplished task from last week, so we will try to get this completed during this week. We may have to enlist the help of some of our designer friends to get this done, as Mike is not only busy but also graphically challenged. We promise to show you the final draft of the newsletter once we have it ready.
Now its time to get back to mapping out the roles for our imaginary staffers over some real dinner. Have a happy week!
