A day to bring on your CPC Founding Day dance
For many of our readers, Thursday is the last working day of this week, as mainland China and Hong Kong prepare to celebrate the founding of the Chinese Communist Party, or the return of Hong Kong to China. (Or you could go crazy and celebrate both at the same time).
Communist Party of China Founding Day recognises the founding of China’s ruling party on July 1st, 1921. SAR day commemorates the transfer of Hong Kong from the UK to the People’s Republic of China and the establishment of the city as a Special Administrative Region under the mainland.
For us here at Mingtiandi, it means at the very least that we we will refrain from sending out our newsletter on Friday, giving all of you a day off from our usual missives.
We hope that all of you will enjoy Communist Party of China Founding Day and/or the slightly less nimbly named Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Establishment Day as much as we do. To make it worth celebrating, we’re even giving you an extra story or two in today’s edition of the newsletter, until we come back again on Monday.
Enjoy your holiday!
