Mingtiandi’s event series on value-add real estate investment continues on Wednesday, 7 April with a panel discussion focused on how investors are squeezing new value from existing properties in mainland China.
In a one-hour live event, guests from Gaw Capital Partners, Kailong, Cushman & Wakefield and World Union Investment will be joining Mingtiandi founder Michael Cole to share ideas on how “buy, fix and sell” approaches can be implemented to boost returns on investments in Shanghai, Beijing and other locations.
The mainland China panel is the second event in our MTD TV Asia Value-Add Forum 2021, and follows Mingtiandi’s interview last week with Link REIT chief executive George Hongchoy, which has already driven more than 1,000 pageviews since it aired on 30 March.
Data Centres, Offices and More
Wednesday’s upcoming panel, which is sponsored by Yardi, will include Gaw managing director Johnny Shao, Kailong managing director Don Tan and Megan Hu, head of World Union Investment, along with Francis Li, who heads the Greater China capital markets team for Cushman & Wakefield, in an in-depth discussion regarding successful value-add projects on the mainland.
Our group of panellists will be covering emerging value-add trends, such as opportunities to convert existing facilities for use as data centres, as well as time-proven strategies such as reviving ageing commercial structures for use as creative offices or as new spaces for the mainland’s fast-growing tech sector.
Following the programme, there will be a live question-and-answer session, which will allow attendees to ask questions of our panellists and dive deeper into how value-add strategies are best executed in Chinese cities.
APAC Core Cities on Way
The China panel is the second event in Mingtiandi’s three session value-add forum, with the series concluding on Monday, 12 April with a panel devoted to opportunities around the Asia Pacific region.
Joining the MTD event next week will be Stephen Tang, head of value-add and opportunistic real estate at the private fund division of ARA Asset Management; Jason Lee, chief investment officer for Asia Pacific at AEW; Andrew Macpherson, head of asset development for JLL Asia Pacific, and Gordon Marsden, a regional director with the capital markets team at Cushman & Wakefield.
Following Monday’s event, the MTD TV team will take a few weeks off for Thailand’s Songkran new year holiday before coming back on Thursday, 29 April with the first session in our multi-family investment forum.
The event series on rental residential strategies promises to be Mingtiandi’s biggest ever, with sessions scheduled each week in May. In late June, MTD TV will be back again with the return of our Asia logistics forum, and August will be bring a set of events focusing exclusively on sustainability in real estate.
