Panel: Investing in Asia’s Hyperscale Market MTD TV APAC Data Centre Forum 2024

2024/09/22 by Danita Phaopat Leave a Comment

With the rise of ChatGPT and other generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools, global demand for large-scale data centres continues to soar. According to Synergy Research, the number of hyperscale facilities worldwide surpassed 1,000 in early 2024, with that capacity predicted to double over the next four years as approximately 120 to 130 new facilities come online annually.

In a race to supply growing demand for computing power, global investors are rushing to deploy capital into data centre strategies, with BlackRock, Global Infrastructure Partners, Microsoft and Abu Dhabi state-backed AI investment firm MGX in September forming a $100 billion partnership to invest in AI-related infrastructure.
