Some of the world’s largest data centre investors and operators will be appearing at Mingtiandi’s Asia Pacific Data Centre Forum next month, as investors in the sector ramp up capacity to meet growing demand from artificial intelligence applications.
The fifth annual edition of the digital infrastructure series, which is sponsored by Yardi, features an interview with Princeton Digital Group chairman, CEO and co-founder Rangu Salgame on Wednesday 9 October, and a second spotlight session with Serene Nah, managing director and head of Asia Pacific for Digital Realty on Tuesday, 15 October, to provide insights from two of the top players in the region.
The online event series is being organised on Mingtiandi’s MTD TV video platform and kicks off on 8 October with a panel discussion on hyperscale investment, featuring speakers from Nuveen, ST Telemedia Global Data Centres, Baker McKenzie and Yardi.
Also on the agenda are panels on Southeast Asia markets and opportunities in Japan and Korea, with registration for the event series available at the link above. The data centre forum is free to view but registration is required.
Interviews with Digital Realty, PDG
With more than 300 data centres spread across over 25 countries, Digital Realty has been listed on the New York Stock Exchange since 2004 and also sponsors Singapore-listed Digital Core REIT.
In Asia Pacific, the company has facilities in India, Hong Kong, Australia, Korea and Japan, with plans to keep building its footprint in the region.
In the interview with Mingtiandi founder Michael Cole, Nah will share from her experience leading the real estate investment trust’s operations in the region, while discussing how Digital Realty is ramping up to meet the AI challenge.
The conversation with PDG’s Salgame comes soon after the Warburg Pincus-backed player announced plans to add 500MW of capacity in Asia, on site acquired in India, Malaysia and Indonesia.
PDG also recently acquired a Singapore data centre from Yahoo and earlier this year completed a 48MW hyperscale facility near Tokyo through its joint venture with Lendlease.
Hyperscaling with ESR, Nuveen, Baker Mac and Yardi
With AI pushing digital infrastructure providers to deliver higher capacity facilities, the forum’s hyperscale panel on 8 October will welcome Jing Zhou, senior director for alternatives and strategic transactions with Nuveen, Michael Tanujaya, head of investments and strategy with ST Telemedia Global Data Centres, Baker McKenzie partner Edwin Wong and Bernie Devine, senior regional director for Asia Pacific with Yardi to discuss the competition for tenants and resources that face the sector.
On 10 October, a panel on data centre investment in Southeast Asia will bring together Woon Teng Koh, director of corporate development with Equinix, Ai Leen Tang, a partner with Baker McKenzie member firm Wong & Partners for a look at Asia’s fastest growing region for data centre development, with additional speakers to be named in the coming days.
The forum’s final session on Thursday, 17 October will cover opportunities for digital infrastructure operators and investors in the Japan and Korea market.
That session, which begins at 10:00 AM Hong Kong time, will feature Diarmid Massey, chief executive for data centres with ESR; Phillipa Weber, director of business development for the IDC division at Gaw Capital Partners and Jingwen Ong, Asia Pacific research manager with data centre market intelligence provider DC Byte.
