Executives of some of Asia’s biggest investors are teaming up with a pair of veteran advisors on Monday, 12 April to discuss strategies for achieving core values from less-loved properties around the region.
With cashed-up investors competing for a limited supply of core assets in Asia, creating value through refitting to boost efficiency, repositioning to better conform to current markets and improving tenant mixes can be critical to deriving returns in high value markets such as Hong Kong, Singapore and other cities around the region.
ARA and AEW Join Veteran Advisors
In Monday’s panel, Stephen Tang, head of value-add and opportunistic real estate for Asia Pacific at ARA Private Funds and Jason Lee chief investment officer for Asia Pacific at AEW will be representing two of the largest fund managers active in the region.
Stephen and Jason will be joined by Gordon Marsden, a regional director with the Asia Pacific capital markets team at Cushman & Wakefield and Andrew Macpherson, who heads asset development for the region at JLL.
The event at 10:00 AM Hong Kong time, which is sponsored by Yardi, is the third and final session in the value-add forum on MTD TV and will bring our exploration of the growing approach to investment onto the regional stage.
Among the topics for discussion will be how incorporating new levels of sustainability into existing assets is helping to both lower costs, and attract new tenants, and how investors can best decide which improvement will yield the greatest returns when they are refitting or repurposing properties.
Warburg, JLL, SC Capital Join Multi-Family Event
With the value-add forum about to wrap up, MTD TV will be back again on 29 April with the first session in our multi-family forum, which will explore investments in build-to-rent properties in Japan, Mainland China, and other markets around the region.
The event will feature speakers from Warburg Pincus, JLL, Altus Software and SC Capital, with more thought leaders to be announced in the coming days.
Details for the multi-family series are available here and just reach out to our team if you would like to learn more.
Logistics Forum Debuts on 29 June
Perhaps the only asset class which rivals multi-family for popularity among institutional investors this year is warehouses, and following Mingtiandi’s successful 2020 forum on logistics real estate, we will be bringing the event back again starting on 29 June.
Already confirmed for this year’s multi-week forum are speakers from Logos, SC Capital, JLL and Vietnam’s BW Industrial.
The logistics forum will include panels on managing core funds as well as development strategies, and a special session on the China opportunity.
