Asia Real Estate People in the News 2020-08-17

New appointments in Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Singapore feature in this week’s collection of people moves documented on Mingtiandi, as a German investment manager consolidates its Japanese operation and a Malaysian developer names a new chief of finance. There are also new faces and promotions at Knight Frank and CBRE.

Takehiko Uehara PatriziaGerman investment manager Patrizia has appointed Takehiko Uehara as its Japan country manager, effective 12 August, the company said last week. Uehara, who will report directly to Patrizia co-CEO Thomas Wels, had previously served as Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Patrizia Japan KK, and prior to that as CIO of Kenzo Capital Corporation. With the appointment, Patrizia has now completed the integration of its Japan businesses with all investment, asset and fund management activities previously managed by Kenzo, which it had acquired in January 2019.

gregory simSingapore-listed developer GuocoLand announced last week that it has appointed Gregory Sim Chee Wah as its new chief financial officer, replacing former group CFO Lim Yoke Tuan who resigned in July. Sim, who has more than 25 years of experience in finance and accounting, had previously served as CFO at rival SGX-listed developer SingHaiYi. In his new role, Sim will be responsible for financial reporting, taxation, risk management treasury and other financial functions at GuocoLand Group.

Michael Humphrey CBREMichael Humphrey has joined CBRE in Hong Kong as a director with the company’s Capital Advisors team, where he will provide capital raising and strategic advisory services for institutional investors across Asia. Humphrey, who is also set to work closely with the firm’s capital markets teams on major transactions, was previously with private markets advisory firm StepStone Group, where his work included real estate transactions.

fun tong CBRECBRE has promoted Fun Tong to country director for Greater China in the enterprise client division of its Global Workplace Solutions division. Tong, who will continue to be based in Shanghai, had previously served for more than three years as sales and solution lead for GWS Greater China since joining CBRE from JLL in 2017. The graduate of Kings College in London also has previous experience with Johnson Controls and facilities management firm OCS Group.

Evan Chung Knight FrankKnight Frank Singapore has appointed Evan Chung as head of its KF Property Network Pte Ltd (KFPN) brokerage subsidiary with effect from this month. The new role is a step up for Chung who had previously served as a senior division director with the same unit, after joining Knight Frank in 2016. Now leading a team of approximately 450 salespersons, Chung also had previous experience at local brokerage Edmund Tie.

Leon Kong JuwaiAsian online real estate platform Juwai IQI announced last week that it had appointed Leon Kong as general manager for online advertising solutions to support customers of its real estate listings websites Juwai.com and Juwai.asia. Kong was a co-founder of Malaysia’s iProperty Group, and is taking on a full time role at the company after previously serving as a senior advisor since early 2019.
