Asia Real Estate People in the News 2020-05-11

In this week’s edition of People in the News, a data centre developer backed by UK fund manager Actis has poached a vice president of sales from rival Equinix as server sheds continue to be a top target for investors and developers in the region.

In the agency world, Colliers International has brought on board a business park specialist in Shanghai, while Radisson has given its legal team a boost with with the appointment of a new general counsel in Singapore.

In other moves around the region, Hong Kong-based flexible space operator The Executive Centre has hired a former WeWork director as head of sales, and  there were also fresh hires and promotions at CBRE and Cushman & Wakefield.

Shining Xiao has been hired by Chayora Holdings as vice president of sales in China, according to an announcement by the Hong Kong-based data centre developer. Xiao, who is based in Shanghai for her new role, has joined Chayora after parting ways with US data centre provider Equinix, where she had served as a director of sales in China from January 2018 to April 2020, after serving as a channel account director from May 2014 to December 2017.

James Zhou has been hired by Colliers International in Shanghai as a senior director, after parting ways with Luen Mei Group. Zhou had served as a vice president and general manager in the leasing department of the Shanghai-based property group from September 2017 to October 2019, following three and a half years as head of business parks for Cushman & Wakefield in Shanghai between 2014 and 2017. Prior to that, Zhou had served as a business parks specialist for JLL in Shanghai from 2007 to 2014.

Nisha Menon has been appointed as Asia Pacific general counsel for Radisson Hotel Group in Singapore, according to an announcement by the Brussels-headquartered hotel company. Meno has joined Radisson after parting ways with Singapore-based healthcare provider Parkway Pantai Limited where she had served as senior legal counsel from June 2019 to May 2020 and as legal counsel from February 2019 to May 2019. Prior to that, the Bangalore University graduate, who is a qualified solicitor in England and Wales, served as a senior associate in Singapore for law firm Withersworldwide from 2017 to 2019.

derek hungDerek Hung has been hired by The Executive Centre as head of sales in the global enterprise solutions team in Hong Kong. Prior to joining the flexible office operator, Hung had served as a director in the Hong Kong and Taiwan enterprise team for WeWork from April 2018 to January 2020, following nine months as a market lead from July 2017 to March 2018. The Macquarie University graduate had served as a senior relationship executive in the business and corporate banking team of National Australia Bank from September 2016 to May 2017.

Rhea Liu has been promoted to associate director at CBRE in Shenzhen, stepping up to her new role after almost three years as a senior manager. Prior to joining the property consultancy, Liu had served as a business development manager for audio visual solutions company Honghe Group in Shenzhen from 2014 to 2017. Prior to that, the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts graduate served as a sales and marketing executive at Shenzhen-based industrial cutting tools manufacturer Juntec Ultra-Hard Tools.

Yves Karuna has joined Bangkok-based Nova Asset Management as a business development manager, after parting ways with Savills. Karuna had served as a business development manager for the property consultant’s Asia Pacific hotels division from June 2019 to March 2020. Prior to that, the Silpakorn University graduate had served as a senior associate of business development for Bangkok-based hotel company Kokotel from July 2018 to June 2019, following just over a year and a half as a partnership and sponsorship manager for arts and music festival Wonderfruit.

Rachel Ng has been promoted to assistant manager at Cushman & Wakefield in Hong Kong, stepping up to her new role after one year and ten months as a senior analyst from June 2018 to March 2020. Ng had previous served as a marketing communications officer for the property consultancy.
