A string of data centre moves this week’s review of personnel changes from around Asia’s real estate industry, with Gaw Capital Partners, Skyy Development and Digital Edge all making significant new hires while Singtel said goodby to a senior executive.
Gaw Capital Partners announced this past week that it has appointed Nicholas Toh as head of its Asia data centre platform outside of China. Toh takes over the role recently vacated by Kok-Chye Ong after less than half of a year as general manager for Asia at Edgnex Data Centres, the digital infrastructure unit of Dubai developer Damac. Toh also has previous experience with DCI Data Centres and ST Telemedia Global Data Centres.
Galen Lee disclosed on LinkedIn recently that he has left his role as chief executive officer with Keppel Fund Management to take on the position of chief investment officer for funds and investments with Japanese data centre firm Skyy Development, based in Singapore. During his more than seven year career at Keppel Group, Lee had also served as chief executive officer for real estate and data centre funds at Keppel Ltd, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Marc Lo announced this past week that he has left his role as chief investment officer and vice president for strategy with the digital infrastructure division of Singtel. In a post on LinkedIn, Lo thanked his former colleagues at the Singapore telecom giant without revealing his future career plans. The London School Economics graduate had served in his latest role for more than two years after joining Singtel as chief financial officer for the company’s international group in 2020.
Patrick McCreery has joined Digital Edge Data Centers in Hong Kong as director for hyperscale, according to a LinkedIn update. Charged with leading customer acquisition and deal execution for the company’s largest customers, McCreery joins Digital Edge after nearly four years with Yondr Group in Singapore, with that company having recently been acquired by DigitalBridge and Quebec’s La Caisse.
Paul Dwyer said on LinkedIn this past week that he has left his role as chief development officer for data centres with ESR Group, without tipping his hand regarding his next steps. Having served as head of data centres for ESR’s Logos division from 2022 through the end of last year, Dwyer had worked in his latest role since January. The data centre veteran also has previous experience with Equinix and JLL.
JLL announced on 1 July that it has hired Toshiaki Hori to serve as an executive director with its capital markets team in Japan. Based in Osaka, Hori joins the property consultancy from Kanden Realty & Development, where he had served as a director and executive vice president with the unit of Kansai Electric Power Co. In his new role Hori is expect to support capital markets transactions for investors in Japan.
CBRE said on 3 July that it has promoted Shun Endo to head of data centre capital markets for Asia Pacific, based in Tokyo. The promotion gives Endo a regional role after the University of British Columbia graduate had previously served as director for data centre capital markets for Japan with the company.. Endo has now been with CBRE since 2020 after joining the company from fund manager KKR.
Gaw Capital Partners has promoted Camille Lam to director of corporate communications and investor relations for its capital markets division, according to a LinkedIn update. Lam’s step up comes more than two and a half years after she was promoted to associate director with the same division. Now with Gaw Capital Partners since 2018, Lam also has previous experience with Hip Shing Hong Holdings, Edelman and Hill & Knowlton.
